Braided line suggestion in a spincaster

I don't know that line is the issue. Spincasting reels just don't have great casting abilities. I would highly suggest stepping up to a spinning reel and practicing to get the hang of it. Shouldn't take long and it will allow you to do so much more. Pflueger President in the 35 size would be a great all around size. It's arguably the best reel in $60 price range.

Throw some 8 lb P-Line CX Premium or 15/4 braid on it and you'll increase your casting distance greatly.

Spinning reel has definite advantages over spincast in accuracy, distance, ease of use and most important the ability to access the line to keep clean and untangled.  I'd still prefer mono over braid based on the braids that were available 15 years or so ago. Limp is wonderful until it's not, and loose loops over the end of the spool is a place that I think you can get too much of a good thing, I've had the knots to prove it to me.  I never really needed to cast more than 50 yards anyhow, when fishing,  and mono could always get me out that far.

I have spinning reels that I use along with the spincast ones, and I know they’re more problem-free a lot of the time but while I can’t explain it, I have a personal preference fishing with spincasters. I have used braid in the past in lower quality spincasters and they did eventually cut into the pins and reel-head but it wasn’t that quick, and the drag on this reel seems actually quite a bit better so I think that would help it from extending the life of the reel for longer than those. I am going to look into some of these other lines too, so keep the suggestions coming.

Don’t use a spincast reel. That is for kids gut hooking bluegill and forked stick catfish. It does not do anything well. Save up for a good medium action spinning setup. $70-100 in the reel. Same in rod. You will like better.

The best dock shooter I know uses a spincast reel.  They will slingshot cast a crappie jig like a dream.  There are a few truly good ones out there.

I'm thinking that braid would be a no-no mostly because it would dig in to itself...but it's worth a try I guess, if you like braid.   I don't.

I used to be anti-braid, dig in issues, nasty birds nests, etc., but I have started using it again and I am really starting to like it.  Better braids out there now, I don't have dig in issues, no snarls, and the stuff casts unbelievably well and is super sensitive.  No more line twisting on a spinning reel either.  Here's a link to the brand I've been using, only thing I don't like about this Sunline is the high viz dye runs out fairly quickly and you're left with line that is almost white.  Functionally however it is great stuff.  Don't know how it would work on a spincast.

When my kids were younger, we ran a lot of 20# and 30# braid on a variety of spincast reels. Power Pro and Daiwa J braid mostly.

Works great, but I don't know about dropping down smaller than that. Needs some diameter to function.

Also keep it soaking (as in dripping) in reel magic or another line conditioner. 

They mostly threw topwater and plastics with an FC leader. Braid is fantastic on redfins and other wake baits. Once in a while I've thrown some of the lighter wake baits on those set ups. Fat girls and Hondas, lol.

So, it's been a few decades since I used any tackle but fly, I'm not at all current on spinning theology, but why would you chose braid over mono? Back when I was young the transition was from braid to mono.  I always thought that both spin cast and spinning reels were developed especially to take advantage of the monofilament invention.

Braid handles much better on a spinning reel than mono, no twist or snarls.  Casts further, especially with light lures.  Sensitivity (if you're looking for that) is much, much better than mono.

The newer braids are good stuff, and this is from a guy that used to hate braid.
