The unions at the dome should be a valuable resource for making doing shows there easier. Some days they are, sometimes in Bill's case, they aren't. The market will self correct and those guys won't have jobs if they can't get their act together and consistently provide a service that their clients feel is worth paying for.

Already there are non-union contractors providing stagehands and labor for tradeshows in St. Louis and other cities. Sadly, their work, especially in the areas of event production that require skills, is mostly sub par. I can see the argument though, that of you are going to get subpar labor that breaks stuff anyway, may as well pay them minimum wage instead of $35 an hour. The unions need to do better. Anyone, union or non who doesn't take pride in their work and do it to the best of their ability, won't stay working. Too much competition from Mexico and China to rest on your laurels and do crap work in today's global economy.

Almost always the pendulum swings far in the opposite direction. Are unions needed, I think so....have they abused the privilege...heck yes.

I was in a union for 14 years, or I should say forced to be. That should throw up a red flag having to be forced to join. The union stewards got super seniority, the officials went on major boondoggles around the country. When I worked at McDonnell Douglas using portable laser calibration equipment, I had to sneak the equipment in my trunk from building to building so a Teamster wouldn’t see me, or they would file a grievance against me. I stopped counting the grievances that they filed.

I do believe that things would eventually swing too far the other way if there weren’t unions though.

As far as the goofball writing bad reviews, I think what wrench said is true. People take reviews with a grain of salt. Anytime I read a review on a restaurant I can usually tell if they are over the top.

After 20 years in the corporate world, I started my own business and ran it reasonably successfully for 25 years. I recently sold it and my office building and have fully retired.

Working with the public can be a challenging and I learned to be a good listener, nod a lot, and never talk politics with a customer or client. There is seldom an opportunity to have a sensible discussion with someone that is completely committed to being wrong 😁😂 Try to keep silent and wonder to yourself how someone could be such an angry fool. 🤪

Thank you all for your comments, this was entirely OFF TOPIC.  i just felt pretty low getting her that bad review and really I just said I had a problem, never did I go into the naritive that I just gave you all.

Hard for me to do but letting people think I'm stupid by keeping my mouth shut is way better than talking and then, knowing for sure.

Have a great one and lets get back to chasing those Fishes.

Remember this Bill, we live in a broken world today! There is always that 1% that will cause trouble, no matter what you say or do. When you have people in Congress that act the way they do, it sends the wrong message to some of our people in this country of ours. You just have to let it go and chalk it up to another experience. My sympathy to Becky, as she certainly didn't deserve this negative feedback.

Hopefully people will be able to tell the bad apple didn't come from your barrel.

For the most part I think people take reviews with a grain of salt.  I always get torqued when someone gets upset about a business deal we had, and I'm always willing and anxious to disclose MY SIDE of the story......but nobody ever asks. 😅

Stars are for gazing at at 2:am, they serve no other purpose, and when a few go streaking across the sky and are gone forever it means nothing.   Piss on that guy and his opposing world views.    You couldn't have made him happy if you had given him lodging for free and washed his car while he slept...and good people know that.

Blow it off.  😊

fishin is right.....I do read some of the reviews when I am looking to buy or go some where.....most people will be able to discern very quickly when a crack pot is posting vs. a real review of the product or service. And if they can't you dont want them anyway 🙂

Bill

From one business owner to another, there are a couple words that come to mine when dealing with people like that.

#$%& em.  😁

There is a guy here In Omaha that owns a company that i subcontract alot of work too, and he also is a NCAA men's basketball ref.  A few years back he made a controversial call in a final four game and the fans for the team that the call went against decided to post numerous bogus reviews and complaints about his business here in town and ultimately other than a little mental anguish on his part it did no harm to his business as good people always read thru the bs and prevail.

It's tough dealing with people and sometimes even tougher biting your tongue but in the end, you know your right and not stooping down to their level and for being the better person you will always come out on top.

One of my sayings in situations like that's is " Yep"  and " Have a nice day".

Only took me 30 years to figure that out but it works.  🙂
