Of course it also took Lewis and Clark almost 2 1/2 years to make it to the Pacific Ocean and back.  I enjoyed reading their journals while sitting in a tree stand several years ago.  There were days when they camped almost within sight of their previous days camp.  But reading about how hot it was made sitting the cold stand more bearable.  Always wondered how many deer I missed because I was too busy reading.

Their "people" as you dismissively refer to the men who weren't Lewis or Clark were critical to their journey.  Does not change one iota the magnificence of what was accomplished by the Corps of Discovery. or the leadership of Lewis and Clark.   And one further comment.  How do you know what you say to be true?
