Bass Pro and Walmart have some strict and quite frankly scary contracts to sign. At Walmart you are typically responsible for returned items. Also if your product doesn’t sell in that region, you have to buy it back. That could break a company if you weren’t prepared. You’re basically putting your product on consignment.

Since the producer/seller of the product covers the inventory and returns, I have heard that there is a lot of theft from Walmart stores that goes unchecked.  Another reason to avoid Walmart

Michael uses Ranger Boats and fishes the MLF Bass Pro Tour, both have BP influence.  I'm sure he is not happy about BP dropping Spro.  Have they also dropped Gamakatsu as that is the umbrella company for Spro?

They have totally ruined Cabelas I won't go in either place.

This was last summer at BPS, St. Charles. The guy at BPS said they couldn’t get delivery Of any Gamakatsu.

We bought some Gamakatsu Octopus circle hooks at Springfield BPS this past January on our way down to Taneycomo. They still had quite a selection of Gamas.

I think Cabelas died and BPS bought the carcass. Cabelas ruined Cabelas. I'd guess that from BPS view the idea was always to eliminate Cabelas from competition. Like Cabelas did with Herters, BPS will keep and use the name on some  merchandise.
