Blaming the tourney is easy.  Most of the blame falls on the folks that catch the fish and how they take care of them.  After dragging them around all day with little to no care you can't expect the tourney directors to perform miracles and save them all.

Im with ya, i blame the Anglers, if it were up to me i would say no weighing any dead fish period

I've tried to get that put into the rules for a local weekly derby for years.  Managed to get weighing a short fish gets you disqualified in the rules, but folks don't want the same for a dead fish.  I also believe that no dead fish should be allowed for big.  Often times it is the same boat(s) with the dead fish.  The onus is definitely on the angler.  Had a 3+ inhale a stickbait last weekend and was bleeding quite a bit.  Applied rejuvinade to the well multiple times throughout the derby after flushing the well out and replacing with fresh water.  Fish was major feisty at the end of the 5 hour derby.

That rejuvinade is the deal.  Ive had a bleeder and you through them in there with that stuff and you can see the the blood clots start floating on top of the water.  I usually put a little hydrogen peroxide in to increase the DO too.  Also added and extra aerator this year because it was cold out and i was bored and needed a project

I swear by G Juice as well.  I have never had a dead fish at a weigh in.  Ice and additive is the only way to go.  I've laid on that dock at Cape Fair on Wednesdays many times trying to save other peoples fish that got dumped and were hardly alive at the weigh in.  It drives me nuts that it doesn't get policed any more than it does.

If u look back at my post I am not blaming the tournament at all. And I merely stated that it was a couple teams not following the tournament rules. I am not one to throw a stink about it so I let it go. I did not see any dead released that year. It was just people talking about dead ones they still had in the live wells and the fact the picked out the 5 live ones to weigh in when there was a no cull rule in place for this reason. I personally just choose not to fish it the following years.

Thanks for being a sportsman. Taking the extra time to protect the resources for everyone else is a class move.

Donna fished with Powroznik several years ago in an FLW Tour event on Beaver and he saved a deeply hooked bleeder  by pouring Rejuvenade directly into its throat.

That's part of the beauty of it … I keep a jar in my center console and I've used it even when we are fun fishing and happen to hook one deep. We've carried them around for a couple of hours in Rejuvenade livewell water and then released them healthy as they were when we caught em.

That's the thing that nobody pretends to understand when I throw my fits about how many keeper bass get relocated every weekend during these stupid tournaments.   The guys around here have no qualms about hauling 12 fish per boat around all day, and doing their sorting/culling at the weigh-in location.  When you have 60-70 tournaments per month doing that..... it's just too much.   Not cool at all.
