Members stoneattherock Posted April 20, 2020 Members Posted April 20, 2020 so after running a small business deemed "essential" for 20 years and dealing with numerous obstacles..including now the health and well being of employees, their families, my family and others...one thing...one thing has helped me thru these times...THE LAKE...there is no better therapy mentally or physically than that feeling of being down at Table Rock...Fishing, mowing, swimming heck just reading a book on the deck recharges us all in a way that we can tackle the day to day "life" issues..any of you reading this knows that to be true...and in a time of social distancing no better place than on the lake fishing...I get a kick out of the thought of closing the ramps...never in 20 years has another boater been close enough to breath on me..unless its my son LOL..so..keep fishing ladies and gentleman..take a deep breath once in a while..watch the eagles fly around Big M and the loons cry and enjoy the freedom.. Johnsfolly Posted April 20, 2020 Posted April 20, 2020 Could not agree more that being outdoors whether it's at the lake, or hunting mushrooms, or hiking, etc. is a great way to rejuvenate our souls and bodies. Some of that is being lost in the reactionary politics of COVID-19 across the country. Be thankful that you have those freedoms where you live. Mitch f, magicwormman and m&m 3
Mitch f Posted April 20, 2020 Posted April 20, 2020 Makes me wonder what kind of life our kids will have? All this folly makes you appreciate what you have in life. I try to wake up every morning and feel grateful for what we have been given. if you don’t mind me asking, what type of business do you run? magicwormman 1 "Honor is a man's gift to himself" Rob Roy McGregor
Members stoneattherock Posted April 20, 2020 Author Members Posted April 20, 2020 construction related....as for our kids...It is our duty to teach and prepare them to enjoy these things the same way and with the same respect we do and those before us did...I am almost 50 and still feel the butterflies and excitement i did as a 5 year old knowing i was going fishing...still dont sleep well the day before with nervous energy keeping me awake...if we implant that in others then I hope we will have these opportunities for years and generations to come. Anyone reading these forums probably feel the same..so be safe, stay positive and help when and where you can.. Johnsfolly, Mitch f, Hunter53 and 5 others 7 1
vernon Posted April 21, 2020 Posted April 21, 2020 Finally was able yesterday to confirm our May trip as a "go" and, yes, at 67 I've had butterflies ever since and will have until we get there! There's a reason that houses are called "shelters" as when shelter is needed is the only time I really feel like being inside of one. If it's not cold, raining, snowing or blowing I'd rather be outside. And sometimes even when it's cold, raining, snowing or blowing! Heck, I had a big roof added to the house to cover the patio so the dog and me could sit outside when it's raining. One of my favorite things to do. Get outside every chance you get I say. big c, magicwormman and dtrs5kprs 3 "Never underestimate the power of stupid people in large groups." vernon Posted April 22, 2020 Posted April 22, 2020 Careful....... Don't be messin' with my personality 🧟♂️🌪️🌊🌬️⚡❄️☄️☔ However, seein's how you DO make a valid point we will be arriving 7 May and departing on the 16th. I apologize to all for the inconvenience but, as always, I'm sure it'll make for a great show! magicwormman and Quillback 1 1 "Never underestimate the power of stupid people in large groups." MOPanfisher Posted April 22, 2020 Posted April 22, 2020 LOL I have a buddy that like to come to MO and Crappie fish, he could pick ANY dates well in advice and end up emck in the middle of a 4 day cold front. Statistically he should get a good one occasionally. Kind of how we are rolling here this morning, not raining yet so just enjoying a cool morning. If I ever build another house I will have either a wrap around porch or what we used to call a dog trot just for that. But the porch I have and some other buildings work too. Happen to be setting in the coveres drive thru between the two sides of an old grainery while Zuri Dog waits for her kitties to come out to play with her. magicwormman, Quillback and vernon 3

One of my all-time dreams was a big screened in porch but it never happened and likely never will now. When I was a kid I used to love hanging out on the ones that both of my grandparents had. Used to sleep out there all the time in the summer. Was like being outside while I was inside! That's when I really got hooked on thunderstorms too. Fortunately, we don't have many mosquito's around here so the covered patio works almost as well but them screened in porches are the jizz! Pretty pup! magicwormman 1 "Never underestimate the power of stupid people in large groups." George Carlin "The only money ever wasted is money never spent." Me.
