The bass boat on a ramp has a gas motor, is that not against their beliefs?

I have seen them at the lake with jet skis and ski boats.  Vehicles are usually very plain truck, nice ones but plain Jane looking.  I believe they are Mennonite and exactly what their rules depend on the patriarch of that family clan.  Some can drive and some cant, some get hauled to job sites in vans pulling a trailed of tools.  Some can use your power tools but can't have their own, some are very good carpenters and such and some aren't.  My daughters FIL has a side gig hauling them around, has a mini van, and a one ton truck to pull a trailer with.  I asked him how busy he stayed, "more than I want to be" he answered, I made a comment about I might do that when I retire, he said to let him know and he could get me all the work doing it I wanted, suddenly didn't seem like near as good of a plan.  He has taken several big rental van loads to family reunions in Ohio I think, said they pay for the rental van, and provide him a hotel room while waiting for them.  He also said be sure you run with widows open because a van load of them can get pretty ripe.  His wife occasionally took an older lady to KC to dr. Apointments.

It isn't the motor that is shunned..... it's the licensing, titling, and paying property taxes on it that is.   If they can get a waiver to use it legally then they will.

Here's an explanation of the Amish views on modern conveniences.

Within the Amish there are varying degrees of strictness and adherence. Some communities are more accepting of technology than others.

Here's a piece on the difference between Amish and Mennonites.

Yeah, basically the "beliefs" change depending on what's convenient and reasonable in their opinion.  Just like any other religious guideline.

What I never got was why tractors had to have steel wheels but rubber belts and hoses on the same machine were OK.  Still keeps me up at night sometimes.

Over by Mountain Grove there's a sect of what the locals call "Tractor Amish".  No cars or trucks, but tractors pulling trailers full of women and kids.

Our local farmer market has a couple of groups of them with as beautiful of women as I've seen.  Makes me think about joining up.
