Reality is anticlimactic. My county has (or had, I don't follow) the highest numbers in this 1/4 of the state despite a low population; yet I don't know anyone who has tested positive and no one I know knows anyone who knows anyone that tested positive. Truthfully I think this is the second wave of it here, given Walmart's relationship with China and the fact that many were ill with non-flu flu-like symptoms around Christmas and through January, I think we had it before it became officially a disease. dan hufferd 1
fishinwrench Posted July 5, 2020 Posted July 5, 2020 If people had never been told anything about COVID19 then nobody would even recognize that anything was out of the ordinary. They should rename this illness and call it what it really is.....Brain Flu.
dan hufferd Posted July 5, 2020 Posted July 5, 2020 I wore one in church this morning. I have been to 5 major cities in the last 6 weeks, as far as I know, masks don't filter the air for you, supposedly masks help others stay well?? We have many elderly in our congregation. Just trying to consider them. Even though I am pretty sure I had the covid before they started testing for it. I am still going to go where I want and do what I want, most people don't leave this life healthy anyway. Johnsfolly, fishinwrench, Daryk Campbell Sr and 1 other 4

If you cough or sneeze or spit when you talk, then yes, if none of the above they are still a fashion statement. Actually even if you cough and sneeze with normal gravity the mucous that carries the germ will fall to the floor or ground before it travels 6'. So if we keep back as far as we can spit the mask still is just a fashion statement. However I understand some cities are requiring you to wear one and I don't have a supply of them. And that's the other rub, they are meant to be thrown away after each use, but the average user takes the mask off with dirty hands and saves it for reuse when he/she will place it back on the face with unwashed hands, so in reality they become a depository for all kinds of tiny wildlife. dan hufferd 1
BilletHead Posted July 5, 2020 Posted July 5, 2020 Another face mask issue, Yes I wear one either a buff or facemask my sister made us. Not a problem IMO but do have an issue. I have a highly sensitive Olfactory system and especially to scents in some cleaning products, clothes washing detergents, certain body washes and soaps, cigarette smoke and what I call rancid perfume some ladies wear. Enough I get a headache when encountering. I will have to go around and I mean way around blue haired elderly ladies in the store. We use free and clear type detergents in our laundry. Now all scents do not do this to me just some but most do. It is a pain to put up with but I do best I can. So one day we were in town outdoors with mask on and we found ourselves down wind of a highly perfumed woman. I am talking 20 feet and it turned me inside out. I immediately made a turn to take me out of her rancid scent trail until I got up wind. Then the scent was impregnated in my buff. Got what I needed to do then back out and unmasked for fresh air. Buff went into pocket until next place needed. Kind of had that out of my thought process until we had to do the Wal Mart thing. So left car and donned mask and there again it was. I about lost it again. Well here we go to the door where there is a one lane system now to get into the door. Next gauntlet to pass was the smoker trying to suck down the rest of his smoke to get his moneys worth before he went in store I could see it coming and by darned it happened the long stinkin exhale into my path. I had hit the double whammy. Now I had two offending scents in my mask and it was stuck in there. I almost abandoned that trip but didn't but by the time I got out my sinuses hurt and I got a headache. I am now going to carry multiple masks. It is funny I can do natural scents such as flowers, pines and such but there is something synthetic or chemical in stuff that sets me off. Does anyone else have this issue? It can be a blessing at times being able to smell natural things in nature but in same way dead animals and rotting flesh not so good.. I do like me a good skunk smell If it isn't in my face. This brings up another deal on this covid deal. What we cannot smell but lingers in the air. I am sure scent molecules are smaller than the covid bug. At least I hope so. tjm Posted July 5, 2020 Posted July 5, 2020 Yes, I have the perfume allergy and I can tell you who used hair dye this month. Some perfumes make me pretty sick, and funny enough skunk odor doesn't bother me at all. BilletHead 1
Gavin Posted July 5, 2020 Posted July 5, 2020 You rural folks have not got it yet. It’s more of an intelligence test. Stupid fuggers are gonna get it and spread it around. Stay clear of stupid fuggers. Daryk Campbell Sr, Terrierman and BilletHead 2 1
