LOZ after dark is no place to be.  Too common.  Wonder how many close calls there are that we never read about?

There are alot of full on serious crashes that you never hear about.  The news outlets never talk about the ones where no BUI/BWI arrests were made.  I promise you there are lots and lots of them.

Honestly, more sober people crash than do the ones that are drunk.  I think they want you to think that unless someone involved is drunk then you can't get killed or seriously injured.

That isn't the case at all.   Typically nobody gets arrested or in any kind of trouble after a boating accident.....unless somebody had a beer.

There are a lot more one boat incidents where boats are run aground at speed.  Lots of people hurt and killed that way - I will never understand those, ever.  The speed limit at night has probably saved many lives already...and I’m not real big on regulations, but that has been a pretty good one.   More than once I’ve come cross someone I couldn’t see because they had no lights, either due to stupidity or mechanical failure.  If I had been driving as fast as some do I would not have been able to avoid something bad.  It ain’t worth it.

I have no idea why skills based boating licenses aren’t a thing.

I pushed for something along those lines, specifically for random people renting boats and PWC's, and stopped getting invited to MDA meetings and functions over it.

My rule of thumb used to be to never set foot in a boat on that lake from Memorial Day to Labor Day.  Then it was modified to between May 1st and October 1st.

Now I just don't go near the place at all.

Ever.

That Ranger Z521 is like a peanut in a blender on that lake.

Too old and cranky to deal with it and Table Rock is on the chopping block now too.

Too many other people out there having "fun" for me to be able to too.
