Dry the rattles out, and toss em in the sound hole of your acoustic guitar.  Live reptiles smell like hell. Rotten reptile flesh, smells even worse than rotten fish.

Yes it does.  For some reason I was under the impression that the rattles were just layers of dry skin, and that after a good rinse they could be preserved.    Obviously it takes more than a rinse. 😅

Grew up in Montana and remember vividly a trip on the Madison river.  walking in and heard that rattle.  Stop for a second and move on.    After 8 hours of fishing and a sun burn, no patience for snakes.    Hear a rattle and they got what was left of my leader on my fly rod. They move fast when prompted to.

monkey dodo ton of rattlers in Bear Trap canyon on the Madison. Have hiked through, but would love to float it. Won’t be me on the sticks.

Back in the 90's I was working on a job at Ellis Fischel Cancer Facility in Columbia. We had to bring a water service into an existing formed up manhole. Jumped in to solder a male adapter on the pipe. Laying beside the 6 inch water line that I was standing on, was a masssasauga rattler about 30 inches long.

          NICE!

@snagged in outlet 3    That is pretty neat. We like snakes, all snakes. In the yard with the old dog venomous snakes get displaced or dispatched. Other places free passes for all!

I love TRs. I used to track them and do surgery on them in college for an independent study. They are mostly calm as hell, unlike their cousins. A few times we were standing right over them and they just sat there trying to use their camo. Only time one ever rattled at us was when we had to capture it from under a porch..that was less than ideal. Pretty snakes with good demeanor!
