I’m tired of the social media stuff with fishing. Especially young guys with GoPro cameras running to the front of the boat to show their catch. And worse is the staged squatting position they get into as they’re fighting the fish. 🤮

The fly-fishing stuff is even worse.  You've never seen such excited majesty over a 10" stocker rainbow in your life.

And God help you if they go to a farm pond and catch a bluegill.   Apparently there's something about taking up fly-fishing in your late 30's-early 40's that makes everything in the world so much more beautiful and appreciated.  It's like legal LSD.

Those kids will get bored with video soon enough. Lots of work, got very little payback. Heck, I don’t take fish pics often anymore. Has to be a great fish, and has to be a good composition with the angler who caught it. Fish on gravel, on a ruler shots are just blah,

And pointless!

Who knows what they were doing but there is some real money to be made on YouTube. But like everything else it takes a lot of work and a little good luck to hit the sweet spot.

So True...

It’s like those CEO’s who buy a Harley to “Get in touch with their wild side”, then wreck trying to go to Sturgis and end up doing the asphalt ballet.

That's me!  I got pretty excited over my first ever 4" Longear Sunfish! 😁

I personally don't see a problem with it.  Think about it like this...all of the fish in all of the coves they are "fishing" are just getting passed by.  If everyone starts doing that, then they will quit fishing after one fish and pressure will plummet.

I recall when Bill what his name made  the cast wearing one shirt and a moment or two later reeled in a fish wearing a different shirt, or he would tie on some great lure and talk about it while casting it a few times then set the hook and reel in a fish that had a different lure in it's face, I only saw a couple of his shows but I guess he was on weekly for years. Point being that fake fishing is a tradition in in video work. That movie star never caught the fish in that movie either.
