Saw this in another forum and thought I'd start it here.

Me:

Fly rods. I think 4 of them over the years. Two came out ok, one I never found and one I ran over when I went back to look for it in the dark.

Also my beloved HP financial calculator. I heard it bounce off the roof and saw it cartwheeling down the road in my rear view. Some scratches but I used that thing for about 20 more years before it died. Now I have an app on my phone that looks and works just like it.  HP 17B II with RPN.

Left my wallet on the bumper once. Rode around back there for an hour or so before I remembered.

So, what about you?

Got pulled over and had to take a sobriety test because my buddy left a half of a beer sitting on the back bumper.

I hadn't even had a sip of alcohol, but the cop claimed "he could smell it on me".   The cops nose mistook a cinnamon Jolly Rancher for a Busch light. 🙄

Coffee cup more than once.  A Stanley Thermos that I still have.  Wrenches on the back bumper more than once.  Last time a guy saw it and told me at a light.  My phone.  Got lucky on that one, remembered it before it fell off.  Nothing like what Nash Buckingham did.

Had to look that one up. Remembered the story once I read it. Here's a link for the good of the order:

I've had De Shootenist Gent'man on my Amazon wish list forever. It's now on the way.

Coffee cups many times, one rode 30+ miles on the front bumper and it wasn't until I took a sip of cold coffee that I realized what I done. One rode 3 hours on top a station wagon. Half a dozen thermoses. A tackle box rode a several miles on top of a sedan. Hundreds, maybe thousands of other times that I've forgotten at the moment.

Fly rods on 3 occassions, coffee cups, tools...Buddy of mine left his wallet up there and got really lucky. Somehow it caught the pillar of the roof  rack and he got it back 30-40 miles later.
