oneshot Posted November 3, 2020 Posted November 3, 2020 Oh I might add most masks I can’t read lips. Use my Hearing Aid it helps some but bulk of the time I need to see lips moving. oneshot

ColdWaterFshr Posted November 3, 2020 Posted November 3, 2020 Several nose danglers, including one jerk directly in front of me in line. Stood outside for a good 30 minutes before entering the building. He didn't put on his mask until the exact second he crossed the threshold of the door. And then it only covered his chin. He wore it this way for a solid hour longer until an election official came up and said he need to wear it over his mouth and schnozz, at which point he said his disposable mask was broken. So she went and got him a new one, brought it to him, and he put it on in the exact same way he had been wearing the other one. Qanon Trumpanzee no doubt.

The rush to publish, the competition for grants, etc. all open the door for falsification of records and corruption. In the case for COVID it may be recognition or monies that make for poor science or an overreach of the data to push their findings into the news cycle. You also know that many scientists tend to be hesitant to over generalize their data. In that case more often than not scientific accuracy comes only after more data are available and not necessarily when the public wants you to be predictive and set policy on small data sets. Patience is a virtue. It took a lot of research and years of policy development to do something so seemingly straightforward as controlling nutrients in wastewater discharges to Table Rock Lake. Magnify the COVID thing by about a billion levels of complexity and degrees of outcomes. It's hard. People aren't perfect and neither is science. But science remains as our only real hope. bfishn 1

If I had known STL county residents could have gone anywhere I would have skipped the line there and went to meremec college as I found not many people were voting there. -- JimIf people concentrated on the really important things in life, there'd be a shortage of fishing poles. -- Doug Larson
