I end up swinging for the fences with a jig usually instead anymore. I will 100% recommit to the Ned at some point though. I rarely throw it just because it's not my cup of tea. But when I do it's on one of Dave's heads and 1/16 or 1/8th. Like you, if I'm bouncing something on the bottom is going to be your standard jig, a big straight worm on a magnum stand-up head, D-Bomb on a swing head or big c-tail worm/brush hog on a jika rig. I don't fish on the MLF Tour so I'm not forced to fish the Ned for 45 one pounders. Royal Blue, Daryk Campbell Sr and magicwormman 3

I all but stopped fishing the ned because it has felt like all I do is spend time trying to get it unsnagged. I now am using these heads, I too miss Dave's and after a lot of experimenting I use these. I broke one off today, on a really bad day I might lose 2 or 4. I use 1/8 oz almost all the time, and I like a #2 hook as the smaller hook won't get you hung up as much. Dave always recommended a #2 on his heads. It is tough to find Ned heads with a #2 hook. Quillback Posted December 22, 2020 Author Posted December 22, 2020 I went back today, flat calm for most of the morning but when I left at around 1:30 PM it was really blowing. 19 today, 2 were keepers, only 2 on the Keitech the rest were Ned fish. The bites today were more in the areas I expect them to be this time of year, timber on steep banks, but also found a couple back in a cove. Open water Keitech fish had vamoosed. Caught 5 short walleye, biggest was a 1/4 inch shy of bring a keeper. Had another one on I believe, sliced the half zinker lengthwise. Scenery pic, blue sky and calm water. Second, I use the same heads with the #2 hook. I Also use snips to cut off the lead below the head. The plastic threads on easier and cleaner that way. Quillback 1

vernon Posted December 23, 2020 Posted December 23, 2020 For Neds I think Bo's NuTech crappie jig head is pretty dang good too and about impossible to lose due to hangups. rps, Daryk Campbell Sr, abkeenan and 1 other 4 "Never underestimate the power of stupid people in large groups."
