I haven't caught a fish since the 15th of Nov. Bad water conditions, work, the holiday, etc. all played against me in being able to get out and catch some. I took a couple of hours to try and get a chance to catch some fish. I headed to Unicorn Lake spillway. At first glance the water was running high and fast due to the heavy rains that we had Christmas eve. The last time I was here, we had success dropping our baits into the slack pocket waters. It was going to be a challenge with the cold water and now the high fast water eliminating about 70 to 80% of the water that we caught them last trip wasn't going to make it easier to catch some fish.

I fished a trout magnet mini-jig with an orange body. I had on a float. The current was tough to get a good drift. I found a small pocket and had the float go under and I hooked my first bluegill.

Felt good to get the stink off after over 40 fishless days! I found a couple of other slack water pockets and caught a couple more bluegill.

After catching a fat pumpkinseed, the bite shut down. I tried switching to a white jig body - nothing, then a couple of different spots still nothing. I ended the afternoon with a total of four sunfish. Still felt it was a good trip.

I won't have any more opportunities to fish until Friday. So these are the last fish for me in 2020.

I ended the year with 752 fish, 69 different species, and 18 new life list species. Even with the COVID crap, it was a decent year. Looking forward to a better 2021.

Pretty sure Sunday was the last fishing trip of 2020 for me.  Went to a nearby park with a trout-stocked pond.  The pond was about 65% covered with a thin layer of ice.
The open areas were mostly near submerged aerators.  Managed to land 5 trout. Mostly pretty chunky, I wonder what they are eating?

Decided to go look at the creek that was high and muddy  last time I fished it.  This time it was low and more clear.  Caught a nice creek chub.

Looks like a pretty decent day Dave. When I cleaned some of those urban trout, I would find a lot of weed and debris, like they were rooting through the weeds to find some aquatic insects. That is when they were not filled with corn or dough bait .

Decided to make one last trip today before the colder weather sets in. Headed to bssp zone 3 to fish for some smallmouth and goggle eye. I make my first drift into my favorite smally and goggle eye hole. Out of the rocks comes this shadow that I know is the next world record goggle eye. Turns out it's this stinkin ole 4lb trout.

Well here is my last trout for the year and as a matter of fact it is my only trout of the year.  😄

Caught it on Table Rock on a Wiggle Wart in about 4 feet of water.  Very fat fish, and silver colored, when I first saw it near the boat I thought it was a big gizzard shad.

That's a pig buddy. Nice!

I spent my last hour of fishing in 2020 in a cold wind trying for a Banded Sculpin. I caught 17 Knobfin and Zero Banded. I took Pics. Deleted most of them.

My last fish of 2020 is this 2lb bass came on Dec 23 caught on a yellow and green mepps with a Zebco 181 reel on an old Shakespeare fiberglass pistol grip rod my FIL had laying around (I forgot my gear with the Christmas packing madness). Pond froze up after that and couldn’t get another line wet while we were there
