Bottom separation isn't that good on the Garmin units, so fish along the bottom are hard to detect.  Allegedly the new Lowrance does a better job of that, but I have only installed one of them and didn't get a chance to play with it at all.

The Lowrance unit is the one I'm holding off on getting for my White Bass fly-fishing boat, hopefully to save my arm 500 casts per day.

I don't think that Mike Baker takes a ton of stuff from any company, but I might be wrong. He says he does not in his videos and as far as fishing Truman and Lake O. They are by far the best out there.

Guy knows how to get around fish and once he is there how to put them in the boat.

And yes, he is a tech. Junkie, and for a dude our age he knows how to use it.

He has 360 mega and a MK Ultrex up front with the Livescope and two big Birds at the console on his current rig. Chances are pretty good he's just using Garmin Livescope because it was the only player in the game for that type of sonar when he rigged his boat.

Having Livescope and Mega 360 up front would be wild!

SO true.  Shame that technology matters more than knowledge, experience, and ability.  Another easy button.

Well just about every competitive fisherman out there will get it and I would think most of them will be skillful in it's use.  Then with everyone using it, fishing skill will come into play as the differentiator.

I was watching the Texas Team Trail show the other day, they were fishing Rayburn, most of the boats had Livescope.

If anybody wants to whine about the Arig being legal or not in fishing, this live scope is a hell of a lot more detrimental to these lakes fish populations. You’ll never hear “I got one!” Anymore . Of course you got one you watched the fish swim up and eat your bait right next to the brush pile that you would normally be hung up in !

I guess we sort of agree. For crying out loud fellas lets fish. Glen Andrews would be rolling in his grave. I'm younger than most by the way. fish on

I actually had a guy who has Livescope asking me for help on catching LoZ crappie yesterday. He said he struggles to catch crappie up there. Just goes to show that you can have all the toys and it still doesn't equal immediate success.

I'll be curious to see how he does.

Like them or not. Personally I do enjoy mine. It has helped me quite a bit in finding fish. Never claimed to be a stick and never will. But Livescope doesn't come with a pack of hooks. Because, it doesn't catch fish. I have to do that. And more often than not, there not happy with what I am doing... Sometimes it's like I'm hitting them in the eyeball. They could care less. lol

Luck is where preparation meets opportunity...... Or you could just flip a coin???B)

Can't catch fish if you can't find fish.  The Scope sure makes the finding part much easier.  Apparently helps you manipulate your bait over the top of deep cover avoiding hangups.  Definitely an aid to catching fish.

It's going to be interesting to see how many folks just get tired of it, and give up on fishing.     It is all pretty new and fascinating NOW, but that will wear off in a couple years.

That happens a lot with crappie this time of year. Catch 3-5 and then they just quit biting. You have to know that sometimes they just aint eating and it's time to roll out. If I don't catch a crappie in a few minutes, it's time to boogey and go find some active fish.
