So where does it say that fish you give away are still included in your possession limit?

The part about separating and labeled the catch?

Negative. It becomes the recipient possession limit.

If you give away your daily limit you are done for the day. If it is from your possession limit at the house go catch more until you do daily limit or hit possession limit. What comes first.

This is all pretty simple. Label your catch in freezer or separate stringer if daily. Keep track of it and enjoy the outdoors. Some of you make things too complicated.

I think I have seen you on the MDC Facebook page? Am I correct? Ask there or I am sure you have the Carthage area Conservation office on the hotline. Give him a call and get us the scoop.

You are right with some Exceptions, if I give away 30 crappie fillets to slappy Jones and he goes crappie fishing...HE not the giver is in violation...until those fillets are used....which leads to some interesting possibilities...while someone is at the lake...you COULD give slappy Jones wife a frozen block of  50 river caught crappie fillets and report him....and by law he’s in violation...

because the person getting the fillets must count them in there possession limit....also wounded fish that are not likely to survive must be kept....

I've told this story before, but I'll tell it again for the benefit of whoever may have missed it....

The pastor's wife at the church up on the hill was always crowing about how many crappie she was catching, and how she had caught and cleaned so many fish that her hands were sore. Hundreds she claimed.   One of the church members recorded her and hotlined her posterior. So a MDC agent along with a deputy showed up with a warrant and searched her place.

All they found after ransacking the house, garage, and boathouse, was a bowl in the fridge with fillets of 5-7 crappie soaking in it.

Of course everyone still believes her about her ongoing conversations with Jesus.    😅

The word "embellish" is putting it mildly.  (over 100....means 1/2 a limit).

However, that sounds about on par with all the other tales they tell.  So she gets high-fives for consistency.
