Root Admin Phil Lilley Posted April 23, 2021 Root Admin Posted April 23, 2021 Heard something interesting yesterday. The guys at Tri Lakes Marine said my G3's are going to take another 4 weeks because.... of the long 2-week freeze we had back in February. It seems the petroleum plants in Texas closed because of the cold temps. So because of that Styrofoam manufactures couldn't get any petroleum product and THAT's why everything is delayed. We won't get our bass boats now till late June, early July. Bass Yakker 1
Flysmallie Posted April 23, 2021 Posted April 23, 2021 Just wait until the shortage of new cars takes hold.
bfishn Posted April 23, 2021 Posted April 23, 2021 Most petro products have stockpiles in their chains good for 4-5 days of interruptions from any direction. In this case it wasn't near enough. Once you're behind it takes extra effort for less profit to recover. And recovery supply is just what it used to be if you're lucky, so increased demand for any reason ain't gonna happen till somebody throws more money at it. Our PVC pipe & fittings from TX. have seen two 10% price bumps in 60 days, but at least they're available. I can't dance like I used to.
Bushbeater Posted April 23, 2021 Posted April 23, 2021 It seems it's happening with everything. The price and availability of wood, and now steel. Steel sheet has tripled in price and now they're saying inventory is so short certain sizes and grades are likely to be almost impossible. You can't quote a job with a firm price. snagged in outlet 3 1

The auto industry is saying they won’t be back to full production until maybe May of 2022. We have a budget for new delivery vehicles and might be able to fill 50% of our needs.

Our prices on steel are good while you’re on the phone. After that we start over. Some of the contractors won big jobs back in 2020 and they getting killed. DOTs and states are trying to keep from paying accelerations so the project just sits. Mills won’t even quote Some grades and gauges. We are doing the same. If it’s a questionable deal we just pass. There’s a huge over abundance of hard up projects to take one with hair on it. Try and get trucks. Price per mile doubled on heavy, over width or over height freight. 96 loads per available flatbed nationwide. Quillback 1

The biggest issue is rivers up north freezing and having ice preventing barges getting from the gulf coast to the styrofoam factories near Chicago. Quillback 1
jdmidwest Posted April 25, 2021 Posted April 25, 2021 Big bottleneck in everything due to Corona fiasco and labor/trucking shortages. My products are an extra 4 weeks out now and 21% higher than last year. And people are spending money like crazy. Tracker dealer in Hot Springs only had boats on show room floor to sell Easter weekend. No stock outside. Pretty sad how the industries have been crippled. Boat shortages started last summer when everyone moved back outside. snagged in outlet 3 1 "Life has become immeasurably better since I have been forced to stop taking it seriously." — Hunter S.
