Every time I tried it I wound up with one fish.  Glad it's working out better for you.

I do understand what you are saying. I have removed aggressive fish. Just like humans they aren't all the same. Sometimes there will be a bully that terrorizes the others. Stress them out so much that they will die unless something changes. That usually means the aggressor gets released to the wild. I've seen some crazy fights. I've seen them go through the spawning ritual, not succesfully but eggs have been laid.

When I was 12 yrs old, I was raising fancy guppies. We went to a fish auction and I baought a freshwater pufferfish. Took it home and put it in the tank with my guppies. Not more that 30 seconds went by before that puffer swam over to a guppy and bit it's tail off. Then proceeded to bit off chunks of the guppy as it followed the falling body to the bottom of the tank. Within a few days I had a pufferfish and a couple of catfish 🙄.

I put a bluegill in my mom's fish tank when I was kid. Worked well until it acquired a taste for guppies....

Juvenile snapping turtles like them too 👍. We've kept snappers for a short term (month to a couple of months) a few times when the kids would find one in the creek behind our house. Doen't take them long to find the guppies that we would feed them.

You have to admit a pufferfish is way more cool than a fancy guppy!

Very true. I kept him for four years or so until it died.

                Pretty neat,

I googled them up and did some reading after you shared about the puffer.

So back to the stated topic 😅 Now Canada has a problem.

Public plea issued after catch of freakishly large goldfish (msn.com)

They should just pay @FishnDave to go ahead and catch those goldies 👍

They are a problem in a lake that contains Northern Pike??  Those are some JUMBO goldies!

I didn't measure many this year, some were pretty large.  I think my biggest ones are still from Iowa, some over 12", and at least 2 that were in the 13"-14" range.
