Cape Fair 8/14

Not a lot to report because I only fished for 2  hours. I had 2 keepers and 2 short fish. Best was this 19” smallmouth. He fought hard and pulled some drag- a lot of fun. Had a K that just touched the line. All caught on a 2.5 square bill - that I ended up loosing- dang it.  I tossed a buzz bait for 30 minutes to start the morning but never had a look. Water was 85.3.  Until next time - good luck everyone.

Thanks for the report. Im ready to get back after it starting Wed.  Been on the road for 10 days and cant take it much longer

I’m heading down there after while.  I plan to go up the river.  I’m going to give your square bill idea a try.

I threw the square bill and had one bite.  It came unbuttoned.  I caught 1 short on a Ned then couldn’t get a bite.  I had a few bites but no hookups on a jig.  I fished a dirt Zero with no bites.  I broke it off and put on a Purple Haze Zero.  I had 3 keepers in 4 casts and 2 more shortly after.  My neighbor stayed with Ned and wound up catching 10 to my 9 but he only managed 1 keeper to my 5.  The bite was from 11-12.  We fished from 8-2.   The water temp was 84-87°.

Nice day!  Do you watch Randy  Blauket on YouTube?   He was fishing a Square bill today on table rock.   I like his Chanel and it’s local.  Bunch of dink’s I think

I have never heard of him.  I’m not much of a crank baiter now days.  They have to really be on it for me to do it more than a half hour or so.  My advanced years and high speed reels don’t match up with that technique very well.

Not to mention all those dad blamed hooks and thin skin!😬
