willyfish Posted September 14, 2021 Posted September 14, 2021 Freshwater Fishing Rods - St. Croix Rod (stcroixrods.com) It looks like they have started production again. A lot of what was sold out looks to be available. What length and power do you guys prefer for casting light jigs for crappie?
Seth Posted September 14, 2021 Posted September 14, 2021 6-7' medium light is my go to for crappie fishing
Champ188 Posted September 15, 2021 Posted September 15, 2021 If anyone is looking for a great shaky head/Ned rod, that St. Croix Avid Series 7-0 medium/fast is an awesome stick. Smithvillesteve 1
Ham Posted September 16, 2021 Posted September 16, 2021 My Dad had a 6 foot Premier in Light that was really nice. I bought that rod in the 7 foot model because I like the extra length and it was not (IMO ) a good jig rod. Totally different feel. I tried one of their Panfish series and was very disappointed. Scared to try another Every Saint has a past, every Sinner has a future. On Instagram @hamneedstofish

Scared to try another I think I'm going to buy the PS60LF, 6 foot light. I was going to go ultra light but I think the light will work fine and I could also throw a ned with it if I'm not chasing crappie. Ham 1

I run an avid 6'-6" light action for trout/panfish and would highly recommend!
Bill Babler Posted September 18, 2021 Posted September 18, 2021 Pan fish series are way weak. Not quite Eagle Claw weak but close. Saw this post and called about a replacement for an Avid series we broke earlier this year and they told me they still did not have a replacement. I'll continue to wait. They told me earlier they would not replace it but this time they said as soon as enough were available they would. http://whiteriveroutfitters.com http://whiteriverlodgebb.com
fishinwrench Posted September 18, 2021 Posted September 18, 2021 St.Croix, as bad as I hate to admit it, has taken a dump on their loyal customers. I was a huge fan for alot of years, but they lost me when they decided to quit making good flyrods. Many of the other rod manufacturers are doing the same thing. It's just the way things are nowadays I guess. What good is a lifetime warranty if they fully intend to discontinue the model in a year or two...and replace it with something totally incomparable ?
fshndoug Posted September 18, 2021 Posted September 18, 2021 St.Croix tried to replace a $430 fly rod that broke on me with a $200 dollar rod and tried to tell me that the cheaper rod was just as good I asked the St.Croix rep why would I spend so much on a good rod when I could spend a lot less on a cheap rod. He had no answer for that logic. Haven't bought one of their rods since.
Champ188 Posted September 21, 2021 Posted September 21, 2021 I've never had to deal with their customer service and from the sounds of it, I hope that day never comes.
