My problem is i like to use spotlock and i hate having that bulky remote hanging around my neck, I dont know how many times i set the hook and reeled up my remote lanyard, nothing like choking yourself out and having a fish on the other end. lol.  For 3 grand i want to use the features otherwise I would just go back to a cable steer.

I can't tolerate a remote, or anything else on a lanyard around my neck either. That's a recipe for me hanging myself.

I put it on a carabiner and clip it to a belt loop.

I clipped my Ulterra remote to my inflatable life vest. The one I always wear to keep the wife from killing me. It became second nature to use the lanyard to flip it to my hand and punch the right button. When I changed to the Force, the same arrangement worked.

Mine works perfect on either foot or hand held fob. 18 months with nary a glitch.

I will now knock on wood.

I will point out there has yet to be built a trolling motor that will compete with the Motor Guide Xi5 as far as GPS lock or fast quiet operation , in and out of that lock.   Nothing even comes close.

Agree.  Love that about my Xi5.  I’ve had to replace the board once in 7 years.  The pedal is terrible.  But the FOB works and the spotlock is great.

Fished the Big Bash Bash last weekend, in the first hour my buddy’s MinnKota Ultrex took a dump and had to be turned by hand the entire weekend. Needless to say we weren’t happy. They said the main motor that turns the shaft went out, and when that goes out, the main board and foot control sensor board usually fail with it. It was just out of warranty. $980 to fix it. What a freakin joke.

As you know, I've fussed a bit about the Minn Kota's but those people have been great to me.

Not saying anything about in or out of warranty, but I was taken care of. If your slightly over the contract limit and its not your fault I would without a doubt call them.

Really good people.
