Dutch Posted September 25, 2021 Posted September 25, 2021 Maybe but I don’t like the taste. I just stay with my rosemary lamb.

Dutch Posted September 26, 2021 Posted September 26, 2021 I’ve had it about every way that you can fix it. The more I’ve had the less I like it. Summer sausage is the only way I can eat it and that has to be cut with beef and a lot of liquid smoke. I’ve gone through lots of jerky recipes and quit all of them. So I quit hunting them cause I can’t do catch and release like with the fish. snagged in outlet 3, BilletHead and Daryk Campbell Sr 2 1
MrGiggles Posted September 26, 2021 Posted September 26, 2021 I haven't really figured venison out. Some is very mild and tasty, some is so metallic and gamey that I can't hardly stand it, just cooking it stinks up the house. I process all deer the same way, doesn't really make any sense to me. I will eat the backstraps by themselves, the butt roasts make good jerky, the rest can go into the grinder as far as I'm concerned. -Austin

fshndoug Posted September 26, 2021 Posted September 26, 2021 All the deer I kill tastes just fine, very few run very far. I do all my own processing. DADAKOTA, BilletHead, Johnsfolly and 3 others 6
nomolites Posted September 26, 2021 Posted September 26, 2021 In my experience is it’s all about field care and properly butchering….that goes for elk, deer, squirrels, fish, etc. Most folks don’t know how to care for and prepare meat short of from the grocery case, and many not even then. Flysmallie Posted September 26, 2021 Posted September 26, 2021 I’m not a fan either. It’s not horrible but there is better meat out there for me. BilletHead and Daryk Campbell Sr 1 1
