This sucks. have you contacted the owner? Those shots are expensive and painful from what I hear. everything in this post is purely opinion and is said to annoy you.
Nick Adams Posted December 22, 2021 Posted December 22, 2021 That's awful. So sorry you're having to do that. Maybe I misread. I thought you said the dog DID have its shots. But you need to go through that anyway?
snagged in outlet 3 Posted December 22, 2021 Posted December 22, 2021 Seems like there were less dog bites when everyone just had mutts instead of "pure breeds".
Bill Babler Posted December 22, 2021 Posted December 22, 2021 Happened to us about 5 years ago in Stone County. Our son got bit, I think 6 punctures requiring I believe 10 stitches. Got bit on our property and did not even know the dog was behind him. Stone County would not send a deputy but did tell me if I took any action other than legal against its owner or the dog that I was going to be the one in trouble. Went in to the ER and got him stitched and a tetanus shot and that was the end of it. This dog had all its vaccination and the ER Doc. said almost zero chance it had rabies. Sorry you had to go thru this. snagged in outlet 3 1 http://whiteriveroutfitters.com http://whiteriverlodgebb.com
Fish24/7 Posted December 22, 2021 Posted December 22, 2021 Oh man this story hits home. So sorry to hear what happened Bobby dang it man. Any aggressive dog that comes into our yard is immediately put down. We have written permission from the county sheriff's department to do so. I've been bitten twice , once in the hand ,and another time in the calf muscle, not life threatening but bloody, and sore, I have a 3 legged cat now and paid a $740 vet bill thanks to a pair of pitbulls owned by some tweakers. Another time a German Shepherd grabbed me. Both times they snuck up from behind while I gardening. I've never seen a deputy ask the owners for shot papers , or even inform me of what steps I needed to take health department wise after being bitten. The law here at that time was a joke. If they come back on your land just shootem . Is what they said. Haven't seen any pit bulls around since. Where I live in the sticks they just tell ya to kill the dogs to fix the problem. I am against doing that , it sucks , but when the people who are hired to protect and serve tell us to handle it ,there's no other option really. It's not like you want to go to the crack house and say hey can you do something about your dogs lol.Because the people who own these mean dogs and let them run are always scumbag white trash anyway and the deputies here don't want to deal with those people ,so they just tell us to take care of mean dogs by ourselves.. We don't have any city animal control either so , Sig Sauer gets the job done. dan hufferd 1
jdmidwest Posted December 23, 2021 Posted December 23, 2021 It is Missouri and we are a "Stand Your Ground State". You have the right to use lethal force against anything endangering yourself, family, regardless of where you are. When you are on your own property, you don't have to put up with it. Don't jump into a dogfight and try to break it up, as you know now, its probably not worth it. Family or a person, yes, try to get them off. My county will have the sheriff deputy out in a heartbeat handing out tickets for failing to control your animals when you report a trespassing dog. I have seen the tickets handed out personally. bobby b. Posted December 23, 2021 Author Posted December 23, 2021 One of the nurses at the ER where I got the first rabies shot told me her son was bit by a stray dog and the Arkansas sheriff where she lives told her to shoot the dog, cut off its head, and bring it to them so it could be tested. She was not up to the task so her kid got the shots. Lots of needles are involved in this and I'm sure the kid was terrified. I think the bigger issue here is as it always is - people. If my neighbor had just called to show his concern and if I could have trusted him, I could have avoided the shots. I think a normal person might have offered to pay the doctor bills. In the big city, the system takes care of it so there is no need to have trust in another. I am not promoting big government - just saying. Dog and I will be just fine - the duck season may have ended for us before it started. I just pray that another person is not attacked by this dog but I do think it is likely. Thanks for all your concerns. Bobby big c and BilletHead 2

jdmidwest Posted December 23, 2021 Posted December 23, 2021 Oldy but a goody. This guy has had 2 tickets since then from me. I rolled his pit bull under the sequoia all the way from front to back on the way in a few months ago and its still limping around. Some do not need to have animals. https://forums.ozarkanglers.com/topic/14249-the-great-weiner-dog-massacre-of-08/#comment-86152 "Life has become immeasurably better since I have been forced to stop taking it seriously." — Hunter S.
