Got up this morning to 22 degrees and by 8:30 temps had dropped to 20. Saw the first of 4 boats headed from the dam area toward Long Creek. They we're spaced out over an hour period of time.

High for the day here was 24 and just prior to dark there were 3 boats sitting in the middle of Big Cedar Hollow deep fishing.

Probably saw at least 10 different boats out today in the dam area.

Must be great to be young and that energetic with not much concern about the cold.

Anyone that brave gets my best of luck wishes and what surprises me were how many guys that were out in it today

I didn't even think about going fishing today, it was way, way, way too cold for me.

Beaver lake Polar Bear was yesterday, I wouldn't have fished that either with the rain and then that front coming in, but the winners did well.

Paul Williams of Rogers and Casey Odle of Siloam Springs teamed up on Friday to win the annual New Year's Day Polar Bear bass tournament at Beaver Lake with five largemouth bass totaling 19.48 pounds.

The pair used crank baits and jigs with twin-tailed trailers along the face of bluffs, the ends of bluffs and along chunk-rock banks.

Yikes, those results I posted were for last year.  Sorry.

Here it is from this year:

Kelly Greer of Harrison and Jeff Epley of Berryville weighed five bass totaling 17 pounds even on Saturday to win the annual Polar Bear bass tournament held on Beaver Lake. They won $1,000.

Couple of big smallies.

Saturday was actually pretty tolerable until the cold front hit. Good rainsuits were a must, though. We went to Beaver but did not fish the Polar Bear. Actually didn't get on the water until 9:45 and were off at 1:45. Kinda wonder how we'd have done if we'd fished a full day in the derby. Oh well, we had a great time and that's the main goal for us these days.

Rock Crawler and a soft-plastic creation that shan't be named on chunk rock banks like the one behind Donna were the ticket.

7:36 and again this morning 20 degree. First boat just went by, North to South.

Got to believe them must be migrating instead of fishing.

Get em boys.

I would ask why you aren't out there yourself but I know the answer: You're just not that mad at em. One of my favorite Babler-isms ever. :)
