I'm looking for beginners equipment, something that someone may have collecting dust. I have nothing for tying, nor experience.   I signed up for an online Orvis class, spur of the moment decision.  The first class is a Bead Head Hare's Ear Nymph.   I know what a bead head is, familiar with nymphs.  The rest is Greek.  Looking for around St Louis or with shipping reasonably priced equipment.

Money is just ink and paper, worthless until it switches hands, and worthless again until the next transaction. (me)

Mop up what you can, but get a good (but not overly expensive) vise like a Peak rotary or something around $80-100. Trust me, it makes all the difference. It's best to have a good foundation, especially when you're just getting into it. No need for a Renzetti or something really nice, but don't skimp on what you'll be using for 100% of your flies.

              Daryk,

I will send this to you when I got the other stuff I have not forgot about. It will do you fine for your bead head hare's ear nymph. If you get the fly-tying bug (pun intended) you will want and need to upgrade as Ryan suggested. This vice kind of got me started. First vice was needle nose vice grip and a c clamp :)

I bought a Danvice over 20 years ago.  I have tied thousands of jigs with it and it is as good as the day I bought it.

I will gladly pay, I have considered using needle nosed vise grips.  I'm a simple guy.  I've held out for a long long time.  Tjisnjust kind of got my attention.   Free online class, been wanting to try my hand at it, and figured why not?  No good reply.

Getting into tying my own flies was and is awesome. You won't regret it! Let me know if you need any tips, help or advice.

Nope and I found those other deals too. Got them Right here next to the vice. I'll get them in the post tomorrow or Monday!

As Gavin has mentioned before Craig at Hargrove’s does a fly tying evening(or did, anyway) I think on Tuesdays.  Videos as mentioned are all over the net - I kinda like those at intheriffle.  Once you are hooked a good rotary vise gets another vote here!
