That and hanging out with the boys. I bought a range pass every year for decades. The other thing that keeps from playing is the pace of play and boom boxes. Unless we were first off the tee in the morning it was always slow play. Even at the private level. I'm there to play golf where it seems the past 20 years people were going to just "get out". Hit it, go git it and pick up your ball for a putt for a double or more. We were the first group off on Saturday morning at Normandie for years because of just that; kind of lost enthusiasm as they opened up the course with different management. Not that I am a good golfer, the tight layout just leveled the playing field a bit as big hitters could not stay out of trouble. Don’t play much anymore but likely will once retired. Mike Normandie is a handful. I grew up in St ann so we played there a lot. When I hired into GM there was a big group of golfers and they played little 9 holers like St Peters. I took them to Normandie and they complained the whole time and never went back.😂 If you make it through #5 without a lot of bloodshed you'll have a good round. Conditions were terrible. for years without water. Our motto was: Play through May then go away... nomolites 1
Terrierman Posted March 10, 2022 Posted March 10, 2022 I bought a set of golf clubs as a retirement present to myself. Played maybe five times in my life before I retired. Took five or six lessons and then started playing. At first I played once or twice a week. Always walked. Could shoot in the high 80's on a good day, so clearly I'm no good. Only went out twice last year during the height of covid. I'll work on getting out more this year. I'm definitely a fair weather golfer, don't like it cold or hot so that slows me down some too. It's a fun game that is a lot harder than it looks, and when one walks it's decent exercise too. Deadstream and BilletHead 2
Deadstream Posted March 11, 2022 Posted March 11, 2022 High 80s for a part timer is good for 18 holes. Great actually. vernon, Terrierman and Champ188 3

They got to their first spot and his Dad picked up a spinning rod and fired out a long cast. Went to start the retrieve and no handle. Someone had stolen all the handles off his spinning reels. Either was his fishing partner or his wife probably, so he could not catch any fish and would go home and do chores. magicwormman, Champ188 and Targa98 2 1
