I only allow Scott Robinson at Marine Repair Center to do mine.  He’s been doing it since he was a kid working for his dad.

Have not heard if BWM has a totally certified tech.  Very important. MRC DOES and you will have zero problems. Scott is terrific

There's no such thing as being "Certified to install electronics".

You read the instructions that come with the unit.... and use your brain.

True - the proper term is probably authorized by the manufacturer (i.e. Garmin) to do warranty work and get paid for it by the manufacturer - BWMPS at first was not an authorized Garmin repair location until I bitched that Ulrich could not fix by Force for 3 months due to backlog.  The BWMPS tech Keddy was more than adequately trained so Garmin authorized them so that Garmin would pay the labor on my Force repairs.  Keddy did my complete Garmin install on my new Ranger Z519 and in fact had to do some rework on the preinstalled wiring harness that Ranger did.

Warning about Scott at Marine Repair Center---make sure you check everything is working properly before you leave their premises.   I used to use Marine Repair Center do all of my electronic installs.  One time had I  them install a Humminbird on the front and at the console and also had them network the units together so they could share waypoints. After the install it was late evening when I picked up the boat and the next morning I noticed the front unit and console units where not networked together.  I called Scott and he told me once it leaves their property they don't warranty any of their work.  So it was now my problem to fix what I just paid him to do.

Also had Marine Repair Center put a puck transducer in the bottom of the boat.  I found out later, after a hole developed in the bottom of the hull, that Marine Repair Center drills a hole (almost all the through) in the bottom of the hull and leaves a very thin layer of the hull where the puck is inserted.  I don't know if this is standard practice when installing a puck transducer but if it is I don't want a puck in the bottom of the hull if it means I have to have weak spot in the bottom of the boat hull.

I now take all of my work on Tom at Championship Marine in Spokane, MO.  Tom does fantastic work.  Tom is also a fisherman and can relate to what most fisherman are wanting.
