They never altered or purposely mixed genetics (created new strains).

Now they are doing that, and yeah soon it will be too late to stop......if it isn't too late already.

Nobody, regardless of how smart they think they are TODAY, should be doing anything that is irreversible.    I'm surprised and disappointed that you guys here disagree with that.    Kinda worries me.  😳

Are you talking about the guy in the White House again?🤣🤣

Any fish stocked in Grand Lake has unimpeded access to Elk River, Buffalo Creek, Spring River and all their tributaries, some of which contain species that exist no where else in the world. ODFW is endangering all these species and subspecies, and what ever they do in that lake has an impact on every stream in the entire basin. I wouldn't mind if they stocked it with trout or any hybrid of trout because they aren't likely to invade the feeder creeks and destroy native species. But any warm water species ODFW introduces should be infertile. IF ODFW had any Biologists working for them they would know that.

Here in Missouri they contradict themselves in a manner that makes me wanna bang my head against the wall.

They warn against dumping aquarium fish into state waters, and then they totally banned the movement of crawdads from one creek to the next......but then.....

Well, ya know 🙄

I agree with @fishinwrench.   What if these crosses after many spawns develop a trait we DON'T want?   Then what?

the politically run ODFW won't care as long as the politicians' buddies make money off the tourneys. They'd stock the lake with sharks if there was any chance of profit in it.

It's already happening with White bass.

Breaks my heart too.

I may be stressing over nothing...... but there's a good chance that I'm not.   And if I'm not, was it REALLY worth it?

Never been a fan of messing with what God created. Without starting a theological war, I firmly believe that fish and wildlife belong in the areas He put them in. I have no problem with supplemental stocking of what is already there but when humans start moving things around and purposely crossbreeding them, I don't like it. Peace out.

Like messing with free flowing rivers and damming them up?
