Just got back from the NFoW. There are Lots of big stripers in the trout water, but I can’t seem to catch them consistently even when I know we’re they are. Any tips in hard baits & hair jigs for them. Can’t use plastics or live bait legally where most of them are.

Large trout colored jerk baits. Jeff Fletcher caught his Arkansas record on one below Beaver dam.

River2sea S-waver 120  (swing it cross-current.....then just hold it in the flow for a few seconds)  Try to concentrate on areas near a current seam.

Strike King flutter spoon (Sexy spoon) 4" (worked the same way).

Whopper Plopper 130 in Monkey Butt.... Don't give yourself a heart attack though!!!!!

Timing is a big thing with Stripers.  When they aren't on the feed......they just aren't on the feed.    Go back in a few hours and try again.   An hour before dark is usually the best time, unless it's a dark cloudy day.

If you are sight casting, or for sure were they are, throw a rattle trap 5-10' upstream, then try to take it away from them.

I can't dance like I used to.

Thanks guys! I had several follow & swipe at a 4” Megabass and follow a small Plopper. Some good ideas! Just need to head back w/o my wife & kids to put your ides to the test. Caught fish every AM wading  @ Sunburst, long before the teen daughters & wife rolled out of the camper.

I would add to the above snapping a heavier jigging style spoon off the bottom and letting it flutter down as you swing it past them…the reaction bite can be super effective.

I have always had much better luck with walk-the-dog type lures for stripers than whopper ploppers, but that is on Beaver lake.

The glory of the WP 130 is that you can cast it a mile and cover ALOT of water fast.

An active fish will give away their location......then, if they don't get hooked, you can follow up with whatever bait you think might get bit better.  👍
