snagged in outlet 3 Posted July 30, 2022 Posted July 30, 2022 So we are within a couple years of retiring and my wife is doing a budget. When I buy stuff online she wants me to enter into a spreadsheet. She’s putting a section in for my fishing purchases. So I’m going to the bank to buy some “visa gift cards”😂. Quillback Posted July 30, 2022 Posted July 30, 2022 Buy a lot of fishing stuff so that the "budget" will have a high dollar amount for fishing stuff. Then when you are retired you can still buy a lot of stuff, but keep it a bit under the budget. You will then be able to claim that it is no problem as you are "under" the budget. snagged in outlet 3, nomolites, Terrierman and 2 others 3 2
Terrierman Posted July 30, 2022 Posted July 30, 2022 You two need separate bank accounts and credit cards and mailing addresses. Just trying to help. Quillback 1
fishinwrench Posted July 30, 2022 Posted July 30, 2022 Ha! If I could match Sugarbritches' random expenditures with fishing gear purchases I could open up a tackle shop. That gal spends money like it's going out of style. I dare her to EVER give me that "You bought WHAT?" line of BS. 🙄 gurzik and snagged in outlet 3 1 1
netboy Posted July 30, 2022 Posted July 30, 2022 Just buy what you need or want. It all equals out over time. The key to retirement is... don't worry about a budget. You both worked all your lives, and I am sure you are financially comfortable and have a good financial planner, so just enjoy. snagged in outlet 3 1
snagged in outlet 3 Posted July 31, 2022 Author Posted July 31, 2022 She’s never made one comment about what I spend. Including my golf gambling. Heck I’m not sure I want to see how much I spend on fishing😂 grizwilson 1
