My wife's grandma was a serious Elvis fanatic.   She passed on 3 years ago and the family is still sorting through all the paraphernalia.

He touched a lot of folks. The marketing on his persona was genius.

Elvis was a rare and amazing talent.  The marketing  came after he was gone, so I can’t hold that against him.

Never could figure out all the hoopla about Presley.  Wife and I ( 1 pre-boomer, 1 extremely early boomer) both considered him a "Greaser".  You'd have to be of our age brackets, probably, to understand the meaning of the term.

I know exactly what you mean by that term. It brings back a flood of high school memories. 😀

A day at Graceland is worth the time if you ask me.🎯

Just considering that brings back memories of a 4th grade field trip to a meat processing plant.

3 kids (1 boy and 2 girls) puked, and a teacher fainted..... causing a boob to fall out, and she sprained her ankle.

Definitely a banner day !   👍

Maybe it's the result of public education during the early 70's.

Do you think for a minute that they'd take 4th graders on a field trip to a meat processing plant TODAY ?    NO FREAKIN' WAY !  😂

Airgun shoots a rod through the cows brain.  After it stops violently spasming they hoist it up by the back legs, lop off it's head and spill its guts into a wagon, then rip off the hide.    Hose it off, then wheel it into another room to be quartered and chilled.

These are things that today's kids know nothing about.

I gotta stand my ground here.  Getting to see all that PLUS a first hand boob flash from a cute teacher.......Way better than an afternoon of wandering around Graceland.

I’m with Wrench on this one. We paid for our senior trip to Galveston with Turkey shoots, gun raffles, kissing booths and dances.

Be kicked out of school on a permanent basis for any of those activities today, let alone taking a group to see how food  is actually processed.

On another note, I took 2 Dr’s fishing this weekend. Both family men in their 50’s with children and grand children.

In the last 5 years both had been sued multiple time for racism and sexism and had never had a single previous complaint.

This was entirely over refusal to prescribe prescription medication to females.   In every instance there was a nurse also in the room.

Didn’t matter, HR told them if they want the drugs prescribed them.

Thankfully, my anesthesia group has not yet been bought out by the Corporate entity that owns the hospital where I practice. Your point about HR dictating your practice rings true. Currently I can practice with the freedom to provide excellent care. The day our group is bought out will be the day I look for a new job. Making medical decisions based on fear of lawsuit is just getting ridiculous.
