I’m gonna chase these 10 fish maybe harder than other fish species in 2023.

I will BOLD the species once caught and likely have a post describing the catch.

2023 Top 10

Atlantic Tarpon

Common Snook

Eastern Bowfin

Pirate Perch

Brook Darter

Ozark Logperch

Mooneye

Shovelnose Sturgeon

Yelloweye Rockfish

Silver Carp

I’m hoping I have a little better Luck than I did with the 2022 Ten Moss Wanted

I caught a the first and last one on your list last year by surprise.

Do you have a plan for the sturgeon?

I do and did last year. I’m planning to go fish the Mississippi River at Chain of Rocks from the Illinois side. Last year I got shut out by unannounced road construction on the only road in. The cosmos said “You shall not pass”.
what two species did you catch?

I plan on doing Dale Hollow this year, been putting it off too long.  Try to go back to DeGray and Greeson in Ark again.  Probably do the Chatanooga ones too.

I caught a baby tarpon in the gulf in a creek/marsh with the fly rod tossing out a clouser.

Silver carp the same way in a creek south of St. Louis that flows to the Mississippi.

I’ve tried to catch walleye at chain of rocks after a guy told me how he does it, no luck.

Thinking of an Everglades trip for Tarpon & Snook, but nit sure  if it has recovered. Maybe a lazy Canada trip to catch smallmouth, walleye, and pike now that the border is open.

I admire your for it Ham, but that is an expensive list with all the travel for me.  I do remember catching a 24" snook when  was about 12-14 in Punta Gorda (Grandma lived there) on a guide trip.   My parents didnt have a lot of money but they pulled it together and got me a flats trip because they knew how much i would love it.

I sure hope the Glades are ok. I think infrastructure on west side of Florida might be sketchy, but the fish should be ok.

I love to make another Canada fishing trip, but it’s not really in my DNA to have a lazy trip.

Good luck. I missed that the last couple of times that I tried to get there. Flooding twice and heavy rains/darkness that last trip out to midwest. If we are able to drive out in April, may try it again. I know that Livie would want a fishing stop below Shelbyville lake, which makes it hard to do two IL side fishing trips.
