fishinwrench Posted January 31, 2023 Posted January 31, 2023 I know this is stupid, but it is a mind bender that keeps getting brought up around our house.... Every other day I haul a giant trash bag to the dumpster. Basically 3 large trash bags full every week, and I feel that is probably pretty normal for every household. But in the words of Joe Biden..... LISTEN, HERE'S THE DEAL!.... We don't haul in 3 large trash bags full of stuff into this house on a weekly basis, that's a fact. And the majority of stuff that does get hauled in gets consumed and ends up in the septic tank. Plus, the stuff that goes out gets compressed/compacted and stuffed tightly into garbage bags. So HOW....if more mass volume of "stuff" is going out than is coming in..... Why is our house not gradually being emptied out ? Seriously! 🤔 This defies physics, does it not?

jdmidwest Posted January 31, 2023 Posted January 31, 2023 Compounded by the stuff that leaves thru the sewer and the garbage disposal. It defies the laws of physics. fishinwrench 1 "Life has become immeasurably better since I have been forced to stop taking it seriously." — Hunter S. Thompson
Terrierman Posted January 31, 2023 Posted January 31, 2023 It's mostly empty containers (beer cans and empty whiskey bottles) full of air but they take up as much space empty as they do full. And wadded up paper junk mail and subpoenas which also take up a lot of space. FishnDave, TRRANGER, Gavin and 1 other 4

I pick my mail up about 1 time a month, usually on the day before trash pickup. I have tried to bill the post office for the trash service, but it did not work. There was a time that I would open up the junk, and mail some of it back in the postage paid envelopes. Then they quit doing that. Since I pay everything online, the mail box is almost 99 percent trash. tho1mas and TRRANGER 1 1 "Life has become immeasurably better since I have been forced to stop taking it seriously." — Hunter S. Mailman is too lazy, they would just toss it on the ground and I would get a ticket for litter since it has my name on it. Any piece of mail that is presorted standard or nonprofit just goes into our UBBM (fancy name for a trashcan), and gets shredded at the main plant. It doesn't actually go back to the sender. There is a number you can call to remove your name from credit companies and stop the credit card offers. Otherwise once your name is on a list somewhere it's hard to stop it from being circulated. If it has your name and address on it, you're getting it. We are contractually obligated to deliver everything we get, we aren't allowed to sort and pick aside from certain circumstances. It's a pain but without all that junk mail a stamp would be double or triple what they are now, so there is an upside. Those businesses are subsidizing that cost in a way. Daryk Campbell Sr 1 -Austin
