Well after having a very big brown move and try to eat a double deceiver Tuesday I hit the vise. Playing around with a lot of combos with deer hair (hate), craft fur, marabou, and color patterns. I need to get the heads finalized and I'd be confident in selling them. I've been using the fish masks but I am going to try the Solar EZ Flex resin and see how that works out. Any feedback is welcomed. I'd be willing to swap with folks as well! Did I mention I hate deer hair?

One particular brown on the Current river has been haunting me for going on 13 years.

Not because he was enormous or anything......just something about the way it charged out of that root-wad, ate my fly, and then just sat there staring me in the face for what seemed like 10 seconds.....as if to say.... "you gonna set the hook, or just stand there like an idiot?"

Then he calmly spit it out like a watermelon seed, turned broadside and slowly eased back into the jungle from whence he came.   😳

You ever just get surprised and freeze up?

Not me but have seen it. My buddy was throwing a streamer on the Current once and a big brown came out and ate it like you said, hard-charging and all. I'm watching it and 2-3 sec go by and I scream "SET THE FREAKING HOOK!" He got the front hook under its jaw but it jumped and spit it. To make matters worse he trout set, too. We laugh about it now, but sheesh.

Those are sexy AF.  Not too bulky and in great colors!

Thanks! Yea, I don't like them too bulky. They tend to parabola in the water column, even with sinking line, with too much deer hair.

Craft fur is not as limp as marabou, but not as stiff as deer hair. They are very different to me.

So back to my question... which do you prefer?
