I fished for a few hrs this morning and tried my luck with the hover rig for the first time. I went to a spot I knew would be holding non hassled fish. I caught 10 Ks with 3 keepers and was 4 for 4 on my first 4 casts. The Keitech 2.8 bite is extremely tough and there is no way it would have caught 10 fish out of one group.

My hover rig utilized a 4" caffeine shad Jr (actually 4.75 in) with a 3/32 Core Tackle hover jig head on 6# line (this falls about 1.75ft per second).

I would let it sink to right above the fish (20-25ft) then constantly shake the bait while turning the reel handle once about every 15 seconds.

Currently the market may not have the ideal soft plastic bait for this rig. I was pleasantly surprised that a 4.75 inch bait would work but I want to find a 3.75 inch bait with a solid body (no under belly hook grooves).

I am pretty sure this technique will be a Table Rock player.

I saw a post on BBC where a guy was having a tough morning recently, switched to that rig and caught some fish.

I have read that a chunk of Senko is a good bait, and Basstrix Flash Stix.  Keitech Shad Impact has worked for me as a drop shot bait, seems it ought to work for that technique.

I bet Elaztech stuff would work, but I don't know if you could get it on one of those rigs.

I’ve been very impressed with what I’ve seen from the Hover rig

I fished it up the James in the Bridgeport area last week and was very impressed. I was throwing a 4” worm and they were hammering it .

Maybe the same way that I did with screw locks,  heat up a wire and melt a channel in it.  That was the only way I could get a screw lock to penetrate them.

Now that's using your noodle. Hadn't thought of that. :)

I got some of those jigheads, and you can thread the Elaztech over them by pulling on the front of the bait.  Rigged up a couple of Zinkers.
