Members Ik314 Posted August 25, 2023 Members Posted August 25, 2023 Brown trout have always been one of my absolute favorite fish. I used to randomly catch them if I was lucky while catching mostly rainbow trout. Over the last year or two, I’ve gotten more serious about learning where to find them and how to make them eat my lure. With another brown season getting ready to kick off, figured I should share a few of my nicer browns over the last year. Catch, quick photo, & release. Thanks for looking!! Members Ik314 Posted August 25, 2023 Author Members Posted August 25, 2023 PS none of the above were caught at Taney, but I am thinking about poking around there a little this fall. I checked it out recently with a buddy and caught this on one of my first casts of the evening dpitt, trythisonemv and Daryk Campbell Sr 3
Skeeter ZX190 Posted August 28, 2023 Posted August 28, 2023 I don't know why, but I really prefer to catch brown trout. That's why I like the Current River. I'm the same way with bass. I would rather catch smallmouth. trythisonemv 1
tjm Posted August 29, 2023 Posted August 29, 2023 I thought brown trout only ate at night? that was my biggest take away from "Trout Tactics" that and using Humphreys' own brand of flat mono in place of fly line. I've always wondered if he commissioned Cortland to make that stuff for him or if they paid him to sell it. Never really caught on I guess, who else used Cobra fly line? trythisonemv 1

Most over 20”. Humphrey is a joke in my opinion. Videos done on “private” access farmed streams were more than lame. IMO. No offense to you. trythisonemv 1

I have caught dozens of brownsin the day time but the big ones are predatory and usually hunt other fish at night. Most other aggressive response is from territorial aggression. That said everyone has a theory and they are just that. Most of the big browns I've seen in the day time on streamers have Been around 12 to 2pm... snagged in outlet 3 1

Dad caught this one on Taneycomo this past Saturday shortly after noon. A bit over 23" and 5.32lbs. Daryk Campbell Sr, bfishn, snagged in outlet 3 and 3 others 6
