Quillback Posted September 20, 2023 Posted September 20, 2023 I have not been over to the Rock since end of August. One of the Bella Vista bass clubs went over to the Upper White yesterday, 6 boats with 2 in each boat, they do a big bass format, and the winner had a 2.75 lb. fish. Best baits were shaky heads with worms and the Ned rig. A couple of the guys caught 10-15 fish with most been non-keepers. Lot of rain here last night, still coming down, I see TR has come up a couple of inches. Daryk Campbell Sr 1
Bill Babler Posted September 20, 2023 Posted September 20, 2023 It’s been very good up until the last few days. Buzz baits and big 11 inch worm around cover. Last couple of days it’s been EXTREMELY HARD. Rig that big worm Texas and bury the hook Point deep. Use a 1/4 oz. weight. Throw it in places you don’t expect to get it back. Fish carefully and be prepared to wench them out. I have just started to see Shad, both gizzards and threadfin moving into the river channels and in the deep bends. Most Shad 30’ and under suspended over depth. Surface temps 77-80 degree depending on time of day. Water with a very nice stain for shallow fishing. Shell Knob to KC area. Good Luck PS we got 2” of rain exactly at SK last night Smithvillesteve, m&m, 196champ and 3 others 6 http://whiteriveroutfitters.com http://whiteriverlodgebb.com
Quillback Posted September 20, 2023 Author Posted September 20, 2023 Thanks for the info Bill. I have a bunch of Zoom Ol' Monsters, used to fish them quite a bit. Might have to break them out of storage. Too much rin i the forecast for me to think about it until next week. m&m 1
vernon Posted September 20, 2023 Posted September 20, 2023 Fished for just a couple of hours Sunday and caught six short smallies, four on a Ned and two on a Keitech all in fifteen to twenty foot of water. Swimming the Keitech and the Ned on the bottom. Lost one pretty good fish on the Ned and Kathy had something pretty good size on a Keitech that broke off that was off of a point in thirty to thirty five foot. Was out for awhile this afternoon but didn’t really work at it all that hard. Threw the Ned and Keitech again and had one short smallmouth right up on the bank on the Ned and missed two other light biters all together. Fortunately it was a dang nice day for a boat ride. Lots of shad in the back of the coves and creeks from Indian Point to Schooner but it didn’t much matter for us. I absolutely HATE fishing this lake in September but Kathy loves it so I always just make sure to bring plenty of beer and bourbon! And golf balls. Bgctrading Posted September 21, 2023 Posted September 21, 2023 Went last Friday and Saturday. Absolutely caught them on a dropshot. Multiple keeper smallmouth even a 4lber. Tons of keeper spots several walleye and flatheads. Ik314, cheesemaster, nomolites and 3 others 6
Champ188 Posted September 21, 2023 Posted September 21, 2023 Don't put too much faith in those Bella Vista club fishermen. They aren't exactly sticks by any stretch of the imagination. LOL cheesemaster and Ik314 2

LOL Yeah these guys mainly do it for fun, more of a social thing, no money involved, they aren't trying to measure up to the "sticks". 😃 Daryk Campbell Sr 1
cheesemaster Posted September 21, 2023 Posted September 21, 2023 I have fished the James several times - it’s been pretty steady for me. Catching 12 - 20 fish each outing with 3 to 6 keepers each time out. Big was 4.94 on a jerk bait this month. Starting to catch more on a rock crawler as of last Sunday - had a couple that were at the 3lb mark on it. Catching a few on top and a few on bottom and everywhere in between right now. techo Posted September 21, 2023 Posted September 21, 2023 Shell and I went out both days last weekend. Fished Hideaway to Cape. Fish stacked on trees on main lake points in about 27' of water for us. Nothing big, but most on a green squarebill with some on a Ned rig Daryk Campbell Sr, dan hufferd, snagged in outlet 3 and 3 others 6 Tim Carpenter
