Praise whatever god or mystical being you want, but I don't think any of them have anything to do with a person winning a tournament, scoring a touchdown, or winning an award. If anything, it's just wrong. If a god can put a fish on your line, why can't it stop a person from shooting up a school. In either case it can't, so it's just annoying and a bit abusive to your religion. And I'm sorry to inform all of you that the ned rig works. Always has and probably always will. Not to mention whose side God is on when it comes to starting up a nation, fighting a war, getting elected, getting rich and the other worldly things people thank God for all the time. Offensive plain and simple. Ned rig being the exception, it's heaven sent. grizwilson, Nick Adams and fishinwrench 2 1
tjm Posted November 29, 2023 Posted November 29, 2023 Why are you offended by someone else's God? Is it because you don't have a God or because you feel that your God is inferior? and why would a Fish God care about Cancer? that would be on the Cancer God, wouldn't it? If your God is so superior to someone else's God, wouldn't you just smirk and turn away? isn't the very act of being offended petty, self centered and selfish? One can only be offended if one expects everyone else to pander to his beliefs and sensibilities. On the other hand if any God was looking at tournament fishing wouldn't He/She simply sink all the boats? Protect the fish? Terrierman and grizwilson 1 1

There are a bunch of lures that I'd bet would work as well or better on any given day. I guess I don't get the "I'm to good for that" mentality when it comes to a lure. It's not my goto either but it still has a purpose like all the other tackle I carry. And I have had days where I tried those other lures but the ned prevailed. Some days it's a topwater, or floating worm, or spinnerbait, or a Bandit 300. I just like finding a pattern that gets some bites. It was what I enjoyed most about bass fishing in the lakes and it the same today. I'm not constantly searching for the largest fish in the stream though either. Each and every one is a trophy to me at this point. I do get hung up sometimes on a floating worm. I feel like I can coax a big out with that. I get a lot of follows from nice fish but most of them just break my heart. Geez I need to go fishing. Mitch f, snagged in outlet 3, Daryk Campbell Sr and 1 other 3 1

I'd much rather hang out with a few dryfly, or broken-water nymph fishermen than I would a bunch of glo-ball/bobber drifting outlet cranes. I'd much rather hunt White bass on the flats with a flyrod, even though I could just run windy points with a Roostertail or a 1/4oz. Rattle trap and load the boat in half the time. It isn't just a FISHING thing either........An archery kill at 15 yards is far more satisfying than a 150 yard kill with a .270 Winnie. Regardless of the size of the headgear. And a turkey called-in is way cooler than a Tom busted off the roost. Nobody could deny that. Bluffing the entire table and raking-in a huge pile, with three 9's in your hand, is sweeter than throwing down a straight flush. 😁 grizwilson, BilletHead and Daryk Campbell Sr 2 1
snagged in outlet 3 Posted November 29, 2023 Posted November 29, 2023 To me, a Ned is a plastic hair jig with better attraction qualities. Terrierman and Daryk Campbell Sr 2

Ah, you should know I'm mostly kidding...and the rest of it is just that I like to be different sometimes. I know the Ned Rig works. It's just that I think I use lures that work just as well or better, and I see no reason to add the rig to my tackle boxes...they are already full of stuff that works. I did play around with it when it first came out. I tried it on a couple of my favorite wading size creeks which ALWAYS produce plenty of fish for me, and I wasn't impressed with the results. Plus I found it boring...but then I find most of the stuff that so many anglers use in the warm weather months to be boring. Flysmallie 1

I get bored with PEOPLE who credit their god with everything good that happens in their life. Makes me wonder who they blame for the bad things. If some tournament angler is always saying "thank you, Jesus" whenever he catches a keeper, what happens on the days he can't buy a fish? If a hundred people are killed in a hurricane, and they interview some survivor on TV and he credits God with saving him, I always wonder what the families of those who were just as devout and died anyway think about that. Root Admin Phil Lilley Posted November 30, 2023 Root Admin Posted November 30, 2023 I haven't read all this... but I will comment on Al's last post. I praise God for who He is... I thank Him In all things, good and bad. I trust Him regardless of my circumstances. I trust Him to give me the strength to go through whatever evil may come on me or people around me. And if it kills me, I trust Him for forgiving me for all the bad things I've done. And that's only through what Jesus did on the cross. You can judge a god or a religion by how people live, talk and act but you'd be so misguided. You can't judge the God of the universe by imperfect people. You have to deal with Him personally, just like you'll have to deal with Him face to face someday. Mitch f, TRRANGER, nomolites and 5 others 7 1
