I've modded several aluminum flat and V boats to add foot controlled motors to the bow. You can add additional bracing to the underside if you just do a section in one of the corners. The one I have actually replaced the original TM mount, so it's one-piece. Put a stick of pvc through it and screwed on one of those white plastic cutting boards. I use it as a rudder on the back of my pond prowler. Keeps it in line with trolling motor on the front.
