Kim City - Feb 15 - Fun Swimbait, BFL, FFS and Lack of etiquette

I fished this morning and the swimbait bite was awesome. The BFL tournament this weekend should be pretty good for a lot of the guys.

I normally try to experiment with new baits when the bite is strong and I am around a bunch of fish. So today I decided to try the 3.5" Tackle Max Fugitive SB and it did not disappoint. I caught a nice limit on it which included all 3 species.

BFL-FFS comments. FFS is educational, efficient, and effective (I like it).

But some tournament guys can not use it and also practice proper etiquette. They get so close and totally ignore your presents. I normally let it go because 99% of my trips are hassle free. But the morning it was so flagrant that I decided to educate a few guys. Plenty of tournament guys misjudge a book (me and you) by its cover and that is a character flaw they need to work on.

Tournaments bring out the worst in many guys, but these same guys know proper etiquette when fun fishing.

Had 20+ keepers and kept my boat in 40-50 FOW......on the main lake.

WT 46.5 to 47.5

The Tackle Max pics are on the carpet...too many eyeballs in the area.

Was he in an old nitro with a new motor?  That dude came within 50 ft of me on a direct line . Head down trolling at like 5 mph . Then didn’t even acknowledge I existed . It was wild . I wanted to educate so bad , but I just kept my cool sat down and let that moron go on by .

Lvn2fish, these guys were in a newer boat with power poles and everything like a real pro. Prior to these guys I had another boat get real close but they did not cross the etiquette line.

The guys that got educated idled straight to me and passed by me at 50ft and shut down about 75 yds away. Then with the trolling motor (using FFS) they headed my direction and stopped 50ft from my boat using FFS to look for fish that I could easily cast to.

I stop fishing when boats got too close. I put my boat on spot lock and just drop my swimbait straight down about 5ft and just wait them out.

You guys make bass fishing sound like so much fun!

My worst experience last year was at the dam access at Taney . Guy was fishing the first outlet yelling every time he caught a fish , and boasting as loud as he could “ that’s 97!!!!” By far the most annoying and arrogant one I had the pleasure of fishing around .  Yesterday I had just an epic day on the water . The idiot really had no effect on it . I was more surprised than anything.

It's just ridiculous anymore. Fished a couple Saturdays ago on Beaver ... it was 36 degrees with a heavy mist/light rain falling that was forecast to get heavier as the day continued. I was the only truck/trailer at Indian Creek park. There were none at Lost Bridge North or Lost Bridge South.
I was somewhere in Indian Creek (fishing a little swimbait in deeper water, meaning I couldn't touch bottom with my rod tip 😆) when I heard a motor. Had my sweatshirt and rainsuit hoods both pulled up over my ears, so I didn't pay a lot of attention except to think, "A guy just can't be alone out here anymore, no matter the day or the weather."

Went back to fishing thinking he would go on by but then I noticed the engine sound was gone. Peeked out from under my hoods to see this clown had stopped HALF A CAST from me and was in the process of lowering the trolling motor when I said, "You gotta be kidding me! We have to be the only two boats on this 40,000-acre lake and you think this is OK?" Of course, it was like trying to have a sensible conversation with a lib-tard ... I was the bad guy for calling him down when he'd done absolutely nothing wrong ... in his mind. Actually, it was more like "You're in my way so I'm just gonna fish on top of you until you leave."
So, I appeased him and left. May or may not have done two full laps around him on plane on my way out. On my second lap, "Mr. Scope" was on his knees on the front deck trying not to fall in the lake. I think it was at that point he realized maybe it wasn't so cool not having even a "pro pole" on the front deck to grab onto in rough water and believe me, the water was pretty rough in his world at that particular moment. Black and silver Ranger with a new 4-stroke Merc and power poles. Gonna start taking pics of these guys and posting them here and on FB when they pull this crap.

Last year I had a younger dude start on the same dock I was fishing . Like a stall in front of me one foggy morning at cape fair . I was like “ that’s where you’re going to start ?” He was oblivious and replied “ yeah on the other side of this dock . “ he proceeded to hit the dock with his first cast . I heckled him . “ you’re not going to catch them like that . They really like it when you hit the pontoons “ your casting is pathetic “ . He eventually just left haha . Not my finer moment but dam.
