Flood Gates Are Always Open In Heaven!

Recommended Posts

Just in case @fishinwrench is as wondering😁.   I was on the water at first light this morning.    Started slow with a bunch of stockers.  All rainbows, all fat and healthy.  Then it was on!   I caught these 2 back to back.   I guess a slug of shad came through.   Never saw any but the first one spit 3 up.   Both of these well over 20”s.

I wad watching the radar and then heard thunder in the distance.  Hightailed it to the ramp.   Got my boat unloaded and put on the cover.  First drop hit as I was getting in the truck.  Then the sky opened.  Heavy rain and hail!

Nice fish. Were you in the trophy area?  What was the good bait?

At the dam.  White jig.  Couple dinks on a stimulater.

I thought it was a pink powerworm by the landing??

Blake went up and fished the cicada this morning and said it was silly-good.  Bluff bank below Lookout down.  After the rain.

I caught them on a sinking cicada fly yesterday on one cast.  A fly Duane showed us.  But a jig will do the same thing, as Blake demonstrated today.

Shad - Cicadas.  Scuds too.  It's pretty good fishing right now on Taney.

I only threw the stimulator a little bit.   When big fish are swirling on shad I can’t resist that.  It absolutely poured on my way back to table rock.   Streets had 3-4 inches of running water on them.   Did you get a lot at your place?

Those are a couple of fatties.

We haven't had any flood gate releases or shad kills down here on the Bull Shoals tailwater as they seem to be storing the runoff in the lake.

Also, no significant cicada action yet, but the caddis are still active and fun fishing with elk hair dries and soft hackles.

Here is one from this morning...
