fishinwrench Posted July 7 Posted July 7 Here's a tip on that fly that IMO makes it even better..... Tie in the stem and wrap the white (or belly) sections of marabou, and then tie in the back (darker) sections the way you did both. 👍 It swims way better that way. And the center core shows through in a way that just screams "EAT ME !" Looks like a feather duster when dry.....but really comes alive when in the water.
tjm Posted July 7 Posted July 7 @fishinwrench I'm not visualizing how the core would show through if the marabou feather is wrapped; got a picture? trythisonemv 1

You wanna see a picture of a feather duster? 😅 Here ya go... Seriously though, you don't wrap the bottom color that thick. #2 Blue & white with a chartreuse core is a deadly White/Hybrid fly......But I've gone to these lately Pop's Shad nomolites, trythisonemv, snagged in outlet 3 and 3 others 6
tjm Posted July 8 Posted July 8 yeah, no, well?, that Galloup guy ties his fly with one, two or three whole feathers in each clump and in my imagination if those were wrapped onto the shank, they would pretty much obscure all that Cactus and perhaps make it hard to get the back plumes to match with the belly plumes. But, this is a fly that I've never tied, as is your shad, so I'm only trying to visualize your technique as compared to Galloup's videos. trythisonemv 1
