jdmidwest
10 hours ago, Gavin said: Its looking good! I haven't been out to look, just pressure washing a few dozen. Do they flare on that pink one? I used to toss an odd one out and get some in. White gull decoy, heron decoy, coots, and of course the lone goose. Just something to break things up. That pink blow up thing may be better than a motion wing. Just be careful your hunting buddies do not try and shoot at low fliers.... nomolites 1 "Life has become immeasurably better since I have been forced to stop taking it seriously." — Hunter S. Gavin
The pink one has been known to fly across levies if you are killing ducks and we are not. Fair warning.. Daryk Campbell Sr
Ryan Miloshewski
I wasn't going to, but with a 35 degree temp drop I took off work and am headed to Iowa Monday/Tuesday. After I shoot a doe or two this weekend in Missouri I am loading up and headed that way. Anybody is welcome to join me. Ryan Miloshewski
Well Iowa was decent, but not great, even with the cold front. Shot BWT, pintail and a gadwall. LOTS of pintails. Saw multiple groups of 15-20 both days. Teal seemed to have booked it with the front Monday evening. Saw only one group of mallards both days. They worked, but I was waiting for a feet down shot and they never did. It was nice to have temps in the 30s in the mornings and no mosquitoes. I bet this morning was good. I will likely go up there once more in November. Felt good to get some big ducks down. I plucked them and will be making the Cajun gravy I did with the teal with them. Ryan Miloshewski
I was busy deer hunting, but a few buddies hunted the Kansas opener and have been the last two days. Teal (GWT and BWT), teal, and more teal. And a few pintails. Hot, low water, and not much of a migration yet over on the West side is not great. I haven't gone yet with the weather/duck numbers, but I am on a 6 day vacation starting tomorrow. Will be deer hunting and duck hunting every day--and cooking. Excited for the cold front tomorrow night. Tons of wood ducks on the big lake where I deer hunt in Gasconade County. I do believe I am going to go after them on Saturday morning. Last year a big wad of mallards, gadwall and wigeon found the lake right before the opener but didn't stay. Maybe this year it'll line up right! Either way, I am excited for the next week or so! I'll be interested to see how Saturday goes for North/Mid opener.. Gavin
Got out and pitched the decoys last weekend, but the east side counts from last week were 45% below LTA. I'm hoping this weeks rain moves a few into the Mississippi R. Valley. Ryan Miloshewski, snagged in outlet 3 and Daryk Campbell Sr

BilletHead
Anyone have any success today? The BilletHeads have a report. Once again dry conditions. Our saving grace was the pond in the timber we like to open up the middle zone had some water. Our country did have a couple rain events in the spring that filled the pond. It's low now but enough to hunt. Bone dry last year. We limited out. Not being picky really. Very few big ducks around due to unseasonably warm weather. Today was a wood duck and green wing teal shoot both are good eats. This hunt lasted less than an hour of actual hunting time. I shot the first wood duck. Went out to retrieve knowing fully well there was a rusted broken off fence post in the middle. Shin deep for me and to Pat's knees. For mud bottom it's easy walking. I do use a shovel handle walking in it. I should of shuffled but instead normal walk. I found the post and tore a hole top of my boot through the wader material. I'm thinking not even patchable. Lucky it didn't get my leg. Got back and emptied what I could right out of the hole I had made. Told Pat you are up to the plate now for water duty. So as a good sport she did. Birds trickling in on and off. Nice teal wads and smaller Woodies. I hope these videos are seeable. Lots of laughs were had. The transportation ready to head back to the truck. Daryk Campbell Sr
Videos seem to be quality. Well done to you both. Ryan Miloshewski
Nice, Marty and Pat! Awesome job. I shot a limit of woodies in about 7 minutes. I saw about 100. I plucked them whole and will be doing sauce picante or a gravy like I did with teal. Best time of year is here!
