Haris122 Posted November 21 Posted November 21 Anyone hear the story? Apparently this deer season someone deer hunting shot one in Iron county.
Quillback Posted November 21 Posted November 21 Looks to be true. Mountain lion killed by Missouri deer hunter, investigation underway
Linhardt Posted November 21 Posted November 21 Here is the public Facebook page of the person that was there when it happened. Not sure if I agree that it was a threat to justify the shot based on her post. Other posts that I have seen about it from this person stated it was shot from tree stand between the shoulders. So to me it would have been walking away and not a real threat. But MDC are investigating and will figure it out. But it does have an ear tag in one of the photos. I would be interested to know that tag details to see who, where it was tagged. https://www.facebook.com/share/p/14nv1bYXYFo/ snagged in outlet 3, Terrierman and Daryk Campbell Sr 2 1 Anthony Linhardt
ollie Posted November 21 Posted November 21 Why do I get this feeling it was just because? Probably because it will be true. Normally when someone around this state takes a mountain lion it is just because and normally their life is not in danger. dan hufferd, Haris122, MOstreamer and 2 others 4 1 "you can always beat the keeper, but you can never beat the post" There are only three things in life that are certain : death, taxes, and the wind blowing at Capps Creek!

That's what I kind of thought. Her posts and pics are not helping the shooter's side of the story at all if he is stating it was self defense. snagged in outlet 3, Terrierman, Haris122 and 2 others 5 Anthony Linhardt

Look at them, they’re Facebook famous!! Absolutely no reason to kill that animal. Just another stupid redneck. Haris122, nomolites, ollie and 2 others 5
Members tanvat Posted November 21 Members Posted November 21 The pictures tell you all you need to know; zero respect. Its fools like this that can give hunting a bad name. Haris122 and Terrierman 2
Members tanvat Posted November 21 Members Posted November 21 And he shot "fearing a potential threat" when it looked at them from down below. Good grief, it that's all it takes I should have shot the bear on the Jacks Fork a few years back, several out West while out hiking, and about 25 random dogs. Terrierman and MOstreamer 2
tjm Posted November 21 Posted November 21 Saw several lions back in the '60s in Id., when horse backing BLM and Forest lands, a couple fairly closeup. Some Dad's friends hunted them with hounds, and I don't think they ever pose much of a threat to humans. If one was threatening a human, it would be in an ambush situation and the cat would be on the human before it was seen. They can and do kill livestock, but it would be rare for that to happen where the owner would witness it. I have seen a few lions in Mo. and have heard believable stories of others. My grandfathers generation called them "panthers".
