jdmidwest Posted Monday at 11:55 PM Posted Monday at 11:55 PM Power still out tonite, 3 poles snapped off at ground over the hill. 10k with my coop without power at 3. Generator failed me, had to bring in house to thaw out. Been purring since 10 am charging electronics and running fridge and freezer. Neighbor had 2 ranks of dry wood, been packing it over for fireplace. Still have propane. Cut my way thru a Bradford pear and went to dollar store for few things. Life pretty normal in town. Made a nice chicken stir fry tonite on camp stove and have cold beers. We ended up with about 1/2" of rain and then some cold temps. Probably gonna try Norfork tomorrow afternoon as they are showing minimum flow starting around 11ish Flysmallie, fishinwrench and snagged in outlet 3 3
Al Agnew Posted Tuesday at 03:59 AM Posted Tuesday at 03:59 AM Not too bad here in Franklin County. Had about 3-4 inches of snow over an inch of mostly sleet with a little freezing rain. Not enough freezing rain to form icicles on the tree limbs, just enough to put a bit of a coating on the twigs. So no broken down trees and the power was fine. I got out this morning on the tractor and cleared our quarter mile long lane to the highway. Took several hours, because that icy sleet underneath didn't want to be removed. We have to get to St. Louis tomorrow morning, so I had to get it done; our lane is VERY steep in places. Got the steep parts down to bare gravel, so should be good. Flysmallie 1
Quillback Posted Tuesday at 02:41 PM Posted Tuesday at 02:41 PM Just a dusting of snow here. Cold however and I am already tired of it. Supposed to get a bit more snow tomorrow night, the weather guessers seem to be having trouble putting together a solid forecast as far as snow totals. looks to be 1-3". ness Posted Wednesday at 12:54 AM Posted Wednesday at 12:54 AM Talked to a guy in Boston today. I asked if he was getting any of this weather. He said, ‘What weather?’ 😀 Boston folks are interesting. Quillback, snagged in outlet 3 and BilletHead 2 1 John
jdmidwest Posted Wednesday at 01:55 AM Posted Wednesday at 01:55 AM Talked to power guy coming thru for drive by, first since Sunday about dark. May not be up till Friday. At least the could tell me how many more to go at least. Picked up more 3 lb propane and another BBQ tank. Switched Little Buddy over to Big tank and running tank top heater in main part. Going to try to sleep tonite instead of stoking fire every 2 hours. 67 in here now. Having that pork roast tonite that I cooked in instant pot with generator. Fridge and freezer still good. I asked the superintendent if they ever shut down due to weather. He said only when we can’t see the top of the crane. fishinwrench, Terrierman, dpitt and 2 others 4 1
jdmidwest Posted Thursday at 11:36 AM Posted Thursday at 11:36 AM Day 5, took generator outside at 5am for coffee and top off refrig. Wife going to work today and I have been working since Tues. Not burning fireplace and will shut the propane off when I leave. Looks like first day above freezing, hopefully trees will melt some. Took first shower at daughters in town since Mon. Then cleared limbs for 3 hours and got funked right back up. Worked till 8 last night clearing road out from tree cutters clearing lines. Elec coop still few days behind probably. 1-2 in snow tonite and 3-5 tomorrow, probably heavy and wet. More lines will come down. fishinwrench, dpitt, snagged in outlet 3 and 3 others 2 4 "Life has become immeasurably better since I have been forced to stop taking it seriously." — Hunter S. Thompson

fishinwrench Posted Thursday at 09:51 PM Author Posted Thursday at 09:51 PM Dang JD, how many people are out over there? I complain all the time about our electric company and how much they hit us all for every month, but I'll give them credit...... Whenever there's an outage they get right on it, and have everyone back on really quickly. No matter how badly the damage was. snagged in outlet 3 1
