Winter smallmouth fishing

the bite has been painfully slow but worth it when a 4 lb 7 oz 19" Smallie is included in the 4 bites I got in 4 hours.  Al Agnew got his groove on pretty good too.  It's only gonna get better.

Very nice fish. Congrats to you both. You need to get a portable backdrop so Al doesn't have to bend over in the pictures !

I know right.   Very easy to recognize bank in this hole   Just trying to be fair to the river.

darned if you do, darned if you don’t. 

At first I though ol’ Al’s back was giving him problems. Easier and less obvious if you take the shot from a higher angler, rather than scrunching down.

Or just take one of the fish. I never understood why people think they have to be in every photo. Make the fish the star, not yourself.

There are a few. Very few.

Just a fish laying on gravel or a boat deck or bump board is uninteresting subject matter. A buddy to take a pic of you and your fish is priceless!😀 Gotta do a 180 or float down a bit if you don't want a tell tale object, road, or structure in the background. Better than hunching over. Plan your fish pic so it is a good one. Long arms look stupid, so does too much white belly (yours or the fishes).

My plan is simple.  Quick pic.  No one can tell where it was caught -check.  Fish is swimming free.  Total time= 30 seconds.
