The usual group of us decided to celebrate a couple of the guys birthdays. @gotmuddy and @Ryan Miloshewski birthday's were this week. So, it seemed like a good excuse to have a "Fest". Cody had recently fished with a guide who used liver to catch trout up by the dam. Sonwe jokingly decided that would be the name of this one. We arrived Thursday night, a few got to fish, but didn't catch a ton. Yesterday (Friday) we split into groups and I went with Cody and Ray on Cody's newly redesigned, no longer a surfboard boat. We used jigs and had a great time. The sun was brutal, not like December. The bugs are abundant in the evening. The fishing was good for all of us, once Ray decided to start catching. Cody caught the first fish, I kept a decently consistent bite Ray just couldn't buy a bite for the first few hours. The riffle type shallow rocky water seemed to be the ticket. You could see the fish in the calm deep water, but they didn't want to bite. Ray spotted a long handled net someone else lost, he tried to snag it off the bottom and broke off his jig. We are low on jigs so he had to get out and retrieve his jig and the net. And of course we are eating very well. Wouldn't be a Fest without food.

We have a group of jigfest people meeting down there next weekend. Hopefully we can get a few like that.

If you click on the Riverside link on some of the forum pages, it takes you to the website. Phil Lilley is the owner of both this forum and Lilley's Landing Resort and Marina. Here is a direct link to the jigs. They are different than most marabou jigs. The link takes you to a page that describes them as well. https://www.lilleysriverside.com/lilleys-jigs.htm Phil has many videos on YouTube called One Cast. I suggest the earlier ones for beginners. He does them daily.

I've bought one of these. It helps get the pictures. They show out of stock, but they get new stock often. This is the site I bought from. https://anglersemporium.com/collections/microfishing-tools/products/ogk-micro-fishing-photo-tank-with-net I also use a container that had Naan Dippers bread. https://www.walmart.com/ip/Stonefire-Original-Naan-Dippers-7-05-oz-20-Count/445089340?wmlspartner=wlpa&selectedSellerId=0&wl13=69&gclsrc=aw.ds&adid=22222222278445089340_161193766053_21214199653&wl0=&wl1=g&wl2=m&wl3=697173827980&wl4=pla-2300760861495&wl5=9022818&wl6=&wl7=&wl8=&wl9=pla&wl10=8175035&wl11=local&wl12=445089340&veh=sem_LIA&gad_source=1&gclid=Cj0KCQjwiOy1BhDCARIsADGvQnAA-dVDO4VetX6DFTwhCYOHffc-d5N29V5p3x82hwkFBxzsNcANQ2oaAsZqEALw_wcB

Got a work trip planned, staying in Florence, KY, I've never fished KY or OH, so two opportunities to add new states. Any one have any suggestions other than the same as we do here? I expect to take catfish, bass, and panfish rigs as well as a micro rod. I'm looking up regs, but any advice on laws or anything you wish you knew while traveling is appreciated. All catch and release will be practiced. I promise pictures will be posted.

Awesome time. I'm getting excited about making it back out to some of my spots. Logperch and madtoms are on the top of my list. -
Jet Jon boat. Jetjon or Bixpy motor.

Still up in the air. Not ready to pull the trigger on anything yet, still just a pipe dream. I've got a few other projects to finalize and use first. No worries, I really don't think you hijacked, I like that guy, I've watched a few of his videos. -

I have watched a bunch of that content, and that's where I've come up with the thoughts. I was just hoping that someone here may have had some experience/advice. -
One is not gone until they are forgotten. I read that on a cutout piece of newspaper that was taped to a wall. Jim sounds to have been a stand up guy.

OAF group float - James River Sept 21... Who is Going?!?

I'm kinda concerned about John. You okay buddy? They finally beat you down? -
Anyone have any personal experience with these? I'm weighing a few options. Lots of variables, and too much money to experiment with. Ultimately I want something that's able to be motorized but can go really shallow. It will be only me, and I want to be able to move it semi easily. I'm really liking the NuCanoe Ultimate but trying to consider a different propulsion than a trolling motor.

Danger Will Robinson

Duane Doty has/had one of those flame throwers. It was a neat looking toy. I had a hornets nest on my house that got the size of a baseball, then they seemed to self evacuate. Unless I had a neighbor who decided to spray and not tell me. -
Not to the same level, but, I understand. I'm thankful for my parents' trying. We were "adopted" by the school lunch lady who I became friends with. She somehow learned of my mom's situation of 5 kids. That is honestly my best memories of Christmas. They would deliver toys wrapped in newspaper comics. Beautiful people, Rosa and Joe.

Update. Today I dry fit the seat, so that I could drill the holes it will hang from, and protect them wirh varnish along wirh the inside. I've installed the outer gunwales, and the decks. The decks kinda took the arrowhead shape on their own. I did file them down to allow water to escape since I did not cut scupper into the inner gunwales. First coat of varnish applied this evening.

Too late.

I get the joke the Dr is saying, but not the backstory.

Simple leftover rotisserie chicken. Shredded with a star tool usually used to separate ground beef. Wife got the tip from someone else, thought I would share here. Works like a dream.

I read the whole article. I'm curious. If inwas to season multiple layers wirh a low smole point oil, then later after many uses exceed the smoke point of the original or middle layers, would the seasoning be damaged? I didn't seem to read anything on that idea.

What is a mini split? I assume it's something for the septic, but I've never been on one.

I am grateful as well. Coming up on 2 years since my injuries and am walking much better. While the costs were debatable, I am much better than without doctors, hospitals, ambulance, paramedics, insurance, concerned Great Samaritans etc. I say thank you to all involved in any way. Edited to add: physical therapists. They were/are amazing people. It seems so negligible, but it moves mountains.

Flounder Season closure in NC
Daryk Campbell Sr replied to Johnsfolly's topic in Conservation Issues
I follow a YouTube waterman crabber. He was trying to figure out a way to benefit from catching blue catfish in Maryland. He had a decent homeade system started, but I don't believe there was enough monetary interest. The blue cats' population seem to be exploding with no natural predators. They are being blamed for lots of issues up there. -
Suspended all fishing. Due to drought. https://www.wric.com/news/northern-virginia/shenandoah-national-park-suspends-all-fishing-effective-immediately/
