Not to sound like someone who really was/is passionate about carp, but micro fishing has really made a name for itself. It's cheaper and much more skilled than casting and reeling. I really enjoy the posts of all fish caught. I'm grateful for Ham, John, Dave, and all others who post their adventures. Keep catching your mutts, I appreciate those posts also.

Solid from nose to tail.

I think if you keep posting your fly tying links on YouTube, it would help keep traffic moving on here. Also your one cast videos.

Best of luck. Topwater is fun.

That sounds like a great time. You guys are really living it up.

Welcome to OAF. It's a good time to be on here, seems like things are starting to fire up.

@BilletHeadgot me wanting to see if the gills near me were active. I decided to go to my local overfished pond. Had a great evening. 1 Crappie landed, 1 lost while lifting it out of the pond many green sunfish and a few bluegills. Crappie pictured was on a green thread black ghost streamer that was tied for the winter fly swap. I was playing with colors. The others were caught on a foam popper I tied. Many more were caught. All released. Now is the time.

No whole page ads yet covering the content. Thanks Phil.

I know someone who works for the department. She says she has gotten calls and has had to explain to people MDC did not put this out. I found it funny. But it also is troublesome to know many people believe something so vague.

I've rented from Big Cedar Lodge. Our pontoon had electronics and a trolling motor. I can't remember the cost. I have made the long term decision not to buy a bass boat. For my use it will be cheaper to rent one wherever I go. 4 to 6 hundred for two days rental if I remember correctly. I can still drive my mini van, no truck payments. I don't have to worry about finding a place to park it while going out to dinner, shopping etc. No monthly boat payments, insurance, storage etc. But, I also don't live close to a lake to really enjoy it.

Forgive the hijack, but how would you go about finding the original hp rating data of a hull. I have an old Landau 14 foot, and I think 60' on bottom. Can't remember, but it's wide. The plate was sun bleached and painted over when I got it. It has an old Merc 9.8, but it isn't much. Never reached over 10 mph.

I found this on a Facebook page I'm on. I got permission from the guy who posted it to share it here, as I know many of you aren't on Facebook.

Fine looking boat for sale, I'm glad you're having fun with the new toy.

I wanted to go see if I could make it to and from one of my micro creeks. My son asked what I was doing. I asked if he wanted to join. He said yes. He caught the first fish, the most fish and the biggest fish. I was not successful in catching any darters. I really wanted to break in the new micro rod. Speaking of breaking, he caught something big enough to break my old micro rod. I caught a few chubs and a pretty longear sunfish. We don't know what broke the rod, I'm tempted to go back and snag it with a treble hook. We didn't have one with us and it is a bit of a hike for me right now.

I've been looking for a specific crank bait, and I do think it may have been Luck E Strike. Thanks for reminding me to go down that rabbit hole again. All I can confirm is it is firetiger, and I'll know it when I see it.

Well, I've been trying new ways to create a small rod.for micros. I got a mini lathe just to play with. Maybe make some bobbers. I decided to use some bamboo skewers and work them down progressively. I need to do a better job of that, but success none the less. I used craft corks, glude some together and turned them down into a sort of handle. Attached it to a skewer that was not tapered. Wrapped thread around a hollowed bamboo plant steak that I cut down to about 2 inches. Tapered the next skewers and repeat the couplers. Tried it out this evening with a couple micro Flys I tied. It was fun.

Keep us updated. I really like the shallow aspect. Rivers or lakes?

Do we have any lathe wood turners on OAF?
Daryk Campbell Sr replied to BilletHead's topic in General Chat
Here is my latest creation. I have not fished it yet, maybe tomorrow evening. It is made from bamboo skewers, and cheap craft corks. The couplers are bamboo steaks to tie on plants to keep them growing straight. I wrapped the couplers with thread and used uv resin to strengthen them. -
Good tip. Thanks.

I have android. The ones that cover the screen and make you close out, and refresh are very annoying. I agree. I've never blocked as I understand this site is revenue generated and don't mind the banners.

Sorry to hear about the truck. Vehicle shopping is very tough right now. I got a used van, decent price. But, I still am unsure of any longevity. I just can't justify the prices of new vehicles.
