  1. Rule of thumb, dirty water darker bait. Lighter water lighter colored bait. At least that's what I've been told. Seems to work for me.
  2. Kazoo, Last year when I was on "Property" I was able to rent the boats before the Marina opened (prior to the public). You may call them if you are renting from the Bent Hook Marina. I don't remember the times and exactly the terms. Please leave a report of your trip, good, bad or ugly.
  3. I stayed at Big Cedar last April. I don't know Table Rock at all. I was able to catch one fish and it was on a rattle trap. Black and purple if i remember correctly. I was bank fishing off of a public dock behind the Bent Hook Marina. The report is on this site. Good luck to you,the gentleman who works at the marina is one nice guy. He really made me feel welcome. I third, fourth, or fifth what others have said about dtskprs, AKA Dave. I got my Ned heads in just a couple of days. Excellent price, and I caught a fish on it at the One Bass Tournament. PB&J was my zinkers bait.
  4. I don't know how to word this without sounding rude, it's not my intention. If you want it at a different location or season, plan it out. I drove from the St Louis area. Surely some of you on the other side of the lake could have came down for a day trip. I will do it again if is offered.
  5. Donna's potato salad was worth the drive from St Louis. I played nice and only had one serving, but would sure like the recipe. The wings were very good, and the smoked chicken was as good as it smelled. THANK YOU to everyone who made this happen. Thanks to the two members who stepped up and invited me to your home, and to your boat. You know who you are. :-)
  6. Had an excellent time. Met some AWESOME people had great food. I caught 2 spots, one on a multi (craw) colored weighted jig in under 15 feet of water. And one on the Ned, similar type water. Water temps varied from 48 to 52, not sure how to qualify clarity, will let others chime in on that. We would catch 2 in an area and that was it. Both fish were small, but the colors were dark.
  7. I would like to give Dave a shout out. I ordered some Ned Rig heads from him, had them in the blink of an eye. His prices are more than fair (including delivery). I still have not used the heads, but I am sure I will have something to brag about. Now to give Bo a chance.
  8. Yea, not a friend of a friend who heard that someone saw a boat get pulled over, and they were there for a while....., Nope, I seen it happen. The agent checked me, and I had it all in order. Was at George Winter park. May have to do with it being a registration point, and that is not the best "Crowd".
  9. Seen it happen 2 times in one day on the Meramec.
  10. Contact the Alpine Shop, they usually have demo days on Creve Cours lake. You can try it, and speak to others who may have experience with them. I would be afraid of the one you mentioned would break the "fins" on some shallow rock. Just my thoughts.
  11. How would they be planted and cared for? I could be interested.
  12. looks great, what product did you use?
  13. I thought you lost lifetime privileges when you no longer were a MO resident. Am I wrong in that?
  14. Marty, Sorry to hear about your mom. I guess you are about old enough to be my dad, as I am 36. I have learned to tell everyone you care about and love them. It should go without saying, but it means so much more when you hear it. I tell my brothers and sister that I love them, and some of my friends thought it was weird early on, but now they just accept it. I guess I have heard the song "The Living Years" and took it to heart early on. Hang in there, and never give up. Daryk
  15. Also, I would like to contribute to the food, whatever I can, please throw out some suggestions. Otherwise I may have to go freestyle.
  16. Thanks, but I have already accepted an offer by another member. Would love to get any tips on what lures to use, other than the A-rig.
  17. I hug and kiss my children multiple times per day, still tell my mom "I love you " out loud anywhere we part ways. Very sad for the family, and for you to have to experience it also.
  18. I am guilty of not getting mine yet. I don't care much for Wal-Mart and like to support small business when I can. I will have it next week at the latest. ;-x
  19. No boat, no RV just me and my pickup. I have a tent and all that is needed, just need a place to throw it.
  20. Can anyone point me towards a close campground to the launch site. I will drive down Fri night, and really don't need a motel. I see that the COE camp is closed until April.
  21. They look great.
  22. Yes gentlemen, it's already time to renew the license that allows you to fish in MO. Just wanted to give a reminder,we should be getting back into nicer weather. Don't get caught without it.
  23. Link does not work.
  24. I understand the rants, not as educated in the full functionality of the MDC, COE, or the accounting of either. I have learned alot from this thread, and thank you all for the input. I would like to comment. I spent $26.00 for my fishing, small game permit with a trout stamp. I haven't hunted in 2 or 3 years and maybe get to fish 3 times a year. I will pay double and feel like I'm getting a bargain. I don't know what anyone earns per year on the forum, (not asking )but if it costs to much for the license, think about money spent on cable television, theme park tickets, alcohol, tobacco, elite coffee, etc. I have the opportunity to get food, and entertainment all year long for a 1 time fee of $26.00. By the way, I partake in most expenses referred to, not judging anyone's decisions.
  25. My buddy talked me into helping him change out a heater core in a '79 Camaro because the shop wanted approx. $500 when we were in High School in the '90s. I agreed, not knowing what we were getting into (pre YouTube). We got it all done, had to remove the dash, a fender, passenger seat, and many other components. 12 to 13 hours later we were done. It worked, I bought the car a year or two later, and just parted ways with it last fall. The heater core never gave out again. The $500 would have been well worth it.
